*Background on the TeamAutomationThe Automation squad operates as a Center of Excellence (COE) that champions Operational Excellence by: 1. Providing Operations with tools, analytics and insights into people and activities involved in the execution of processes 2. Supporting implementation of process automation tools and solutions to automate the workflow and eliminate manual steps and tasksPrimary ResponsibilitiesThe main focus of the role will be to engage with Global Operations and support the lead in the adoption of automation by Operations teams.The resource must be able to demonstrate skill in four key area:1. Operations Excellence: Support Workflows and automation projects2. Problem Structuring, Analysis and Quantification: ability to frame and disaggregate high level problems and structure collaborative analyses 3. Technical ability: depth in MS tools (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel/Word, SharePoint, Jive etc.) to optimize efficiency and communication and provide value through improved business intelligence and metrics. 4. Data and Analytics: develop and enhance analytics to demonstrate value from the Process Understanding toolset by deriving insights to drive process and productivity improvements., *Focus areas and key competencies sought 1. Automation Strategy 2. Automation Fleet 3. Automation R&D 4. Automation Innovation (products, vendor, landscape analysis)Automation opportunities for Ops-IT Partnership & Innovation and Continuous Improvement Strategy Skills Required - University degree or higher educational qualifications. Preferred emphasis in Business Administration, Operations Management - Agile, financial reporting (production, interpretation) and stakeholder engagement - Experience with business process improvement initiatives and strong grasp of concepts and toolkit to drive Operational Excellence (e.g. Six Sigma or Lean techniques, Huddles, Root Cause Problem Solving, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, deep-dive process discovery, idea generation) - Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and strong presentation / training skills for interacting with colleagues, departmental management in a cross-divisional setting. - Self-confident/motivated in achieving business outcomes in collaborative team settings and through virtual work with teams in multiple locations - Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment - Intrinsic business sense, listening and analytical skills with innate inquisitiveness and desire to challenge the status quo - Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools Skills Desired Needs to demonstrate a strong track record and understanding / capability as follows: - Project Management and/or Agile / Kanban certification - Knowledge of Morgan Stanley / Morgan Stanley Operations - Professional experience in banking and financial services (preferred in capital markets) - Understanding of the trade lifecycle and the downstream requirements of trade and financial data
