Director- Financial Crime Compliance ( AML & KYC) We have been retained by our client, a well established, professionally managed foreign bank to identify a Director- Financial Crime Compliance ( AML & KYC). The position will be based at Mumbai. JOB PURPOSE: To provide advice and policy development facilitating knowledge and awareness undertaking monitoring and surveillance activities performing risk assessment, review and control activities. To provide advice and guidance to business management for the bank on the financial crimes risks faced by their business and provide an oversight function on the effectiveness of mitigation controls and processes. RESPONSIBILITIES: To assist with the implementation and management of the anti- financial crime strategy covering anti- money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery and corruption and economic sanctions. To act as team lead for all relevant Financial Crime Unit(FCU) tasks related to higher risk client KYC periodic reviews. To supervise transaction monitoring, AML and sanctions controls and process related alerts. To provide technical advice, create and interpret policies with an emphasis on AML requirements. To provide assistance in the Banks regulatory monitoring program with a focus on AML related reviews. To act as point of contact for the KYC reviews management team on matters relating to bank control framework and KYC standards for higher risk clients. Lead oversight of Financial Crime Units (FCU) role in assessing and concurring with Higher Risk Client KYC reviews in a timely manner. To develop and deliver face to face training to relevant staff internally on regulatory requirements in relation to AML and KYC policies. To develop, implement and manage the anti- money laundering strategy covering anti- money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery and corruption. To advise local and group management on complex anti- money laundering issues. Oversee and, where appropriate, undertake, the internal investigation of issues arising and suspicious activity referrals which may have money laundering implications. To oversee the processes associated with AML investigations, including the investigations action plan, follow- up of recommendations arising from investigations, and maintain an up to date log of the status of investigations. To develop, implement and oversee review programmes, including the monitor and surveillance of AML, ensure timely identification of risks and the development of cost- effective and efficient counter- measures. To ensure AML, embargoes and sanctions, and bribery and corruption considerations are appropriately considered as part of the new product committee process, and influence the approval or otherwise of new products from an AML perspective. To Implement and maintain appropriate management information for AML; including the completion of an annual report to senior management on the operation and effectiveness of the banks AML systems and controls. DESIRED SKILLS : Excellent written and oral communications skills. Highly organized and structured. Through engagement with compliance and financial crime and the business, play an active role in sharing what good looks like, poor practices and lessons learned as well as the role of assurance in compliance and financial crime. Be proactive, demonstrate well- considered judgments and anticipate emerging risks. Knowledge of Financial Crime and Compliance best practices. Detailed knowledge of Banking regulations and AML and sanctions standards. Displays a high level of analytical thinking. High standard of judgement, problem solving and persuasion skills. Delivers objectives consistently within required timescales. Demonstrates a commitment to high standards of delivery. Strong team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues. Drive and enthusiasm. A positive, can do attitude. CANDIDATE PROFILE: Candidates should be Chartered Accountants and or Company Secretary and/ or a degree in Law, with 10 - 15 years relevant experience in Banking Industry.
