Job Description

    * Role Responsibilities Strategy
    • Provide Technical Leadership for the Adaptation, Creation and Use of Digital Channels for applications across CCIB.
    • Provide Technical Leadership for the Adaptation, Creation and Use of Machine Learning across CCIB.
    • Provide Technical Leadership for the Adaptation, Creation and Use of Blockchain across CCIB.
    • Provide deep application design expertise and direction to both Application teams and Engineering teams enabling improved engineering experience and outcomes for all stakeholders.
    • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the full Lifecyle use of APIs across the enterprise.
    • Set Strategy and Provide Expert Guidance on the adoption of Emerging Technologies into the Enterprise, working with all relevant stakeholders.
    Business
    • Work with other business domain stakeholders to highlight challenges in the digital channels space and act as (co) product owner to prioritise the remediation of these bottlenecks.
    • Ensure platform initiatives and joined up with business domain initiatives.
    • Have authority to identify and convene cross silo groups / teams / squads to work on complex problems that impact multiple application teams.
    • Drive engineering outcomes across the CCIB domain relating to machine learning and blockchain.
    • Provide feedback to product owners on strategic initiatives.
    • Provide guidance on digital channels, machine learning and blockchain strategy and work with POs to define roadmaps.
    • Identify, introduce, and support emerging technology and best market practices which accelerate time to market and ensure effective client experiences.
    • Engage with Machine Learning and Blockchain owners and help refine and prioritise book of work.
    • Identify missing machine learning and block chain offerings that would accelerate or strategy.
    Processes
    • Promote the use of good practices over single best practices through engineering communities.
    • Partner with Platform Engineering Teams to ensure platforms will work for application engineering teams.
    • Work with Architecture, Security, Compliance, Cloud and Technology Governance to adopt a continuous improvement approach to all policies, procedures, and controls for Machine Learning and Blockchain.
    • Identify new areas of focus and activity for both internal and external technology communities.
    • Contribute to the selection process for future Distinguished Engineer cohorts within the organisation.
    • Help maintain the Distinguished Engineer standards across the industry.
    • Develop and roll out best practice in their domain of expertise or their specialism.
    • Rescue, remediate or provide expertise on initiatives with significant technology challenges.
    People and Talent
    • Lead through example and build the engineering culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for the team and stakeholders.
    • Sponsor, support and enable relevant Engineering Communities across the bank to ensure good practice, learning and challenges are shared widely.
    • Mentor and coach individuals and develop the community of technical talent.
    • Drive creation and provide ongoing input and support for the delivery of technology talent programmes.
    • Develop and nurture an extensive internal and external network of technologists.

    • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment relating to Machine Learning for CCIB.
    • Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment relating to Blockchain for CCIB.
    • Ensure a full understanding to the policies, procedures and processes impacting on Application Delivery.
    • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and, if necessary, escalated through the relevant committees.
