Job Description

  • As Lead Process Engineeer responsible for all process design, process engineering calculation, simulation, process safety (SHE, PSSR), start-up support related deliverables in cooperation with the Business unit, tracking of engineering objectives through Study, pre-FEED & FEED stages until Project appropriation and to support the engineering/project manager in tracking project objectives during project execution.
  • As Process Design Engineer / Process System Engineer/ Project Engineer on Project; support Engineering Manager on Engineering Management functional areas especially on delivery of process system engineering/ process design deliverables --- concept philosophy and project design basis, Basic Engineering Package documents PFDs including Heat and mass balance, PIDs, utility sizing, equipment list, process data sheet, equipment layouts, electrical load list, control description / cause & effect diagram. Typical support activities include;
  • Co-ordination of engineering work between all involved disciplines and all engineering partners, sub- contractors or local design institutes.
  • Responsible to monitor and control design change management, Engineering Partner costs through until project is RFSU.
  • Support through execution phase activities detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • Assist Engineering Manager to meet overall engineering delivery plan -- risk identification, monitor risk management plan, align risk mitigation among stakeholders.
  • Monitor, control, communicate functional interface input requirements Value Based Engineering, LLCP, Engg Quality.
  • Ensuring compliance with BASF s SHE group directive, quality procedures, information protection guideline and compliance policy.
  • Archiving of project related communication and documentation.
  • Support departmental developmental activities of process design tools & guidelines, archiving & knowledge management activities.
  • Perform PSV relief rate calculation, PSV revalidation activities in close cordination with technology team including identification of different scenarios.
  • Develop process flow diagram, conceptual layout, equipment list, utility list and other key deliverables during the study phase in close coordination with technology and operation team. Work closely with cost estimation team to develop study grade cost estimate.
  • Prepare documentation required for Safety, health and Environment studies including HAZOP as per the BASF guidelines during the project life cycle.
  • Follows BASF work processes to generate process deliverables required during the project.
  • M inimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position:
  • Edu cat ion: Graduation in Chemical Engineering
  • W o r k in g Experience: 10-15 years
  • T e c hn i c a l & Professional Knowledge:
  • Ability to interact with multi-engineering disciplines & cross culture virtual team across border.
  • Ability to manage Engineering Contractor resources.
  • Competent in risk identification and mitigation development.
  • Working knowledge/ experience in chemical process design preferred.
  • Working Knowledge of BASF s capital project execution process & procedures preferred.
  • Working knowledge, awareness of engineering codes and standards, good engineering practices.
  • Skilled in relevant softwares/tools like CAD, MS Project preferable
  • Skilled in purchasing preferable
  • Job selected skills:
  • Skilled in plant maintenance will be an advantage
  • Frequent travelling and assignments globally (project based) required. Job may also involve relocation to Project sites in India and abroad.
