Job Description

MSCI ESG Research provides in-depth research, ratings and analysis of the environmental, social and governance-related business practices of thousands of companies worldwide. The ESG Application Development team supports the delivery platform for ESG Research clients and the internal production platform used by 120 analysts and researchers. We are seeking an outstanding Data Scientist to join our Mumbai ESG data science team. As a member of the global ESG technology team the candidate will be in-charge of delivering innovative data science based solutions to the ESG business and its operations. Theywill need to develop and maintain a productive working relationship with a geographically distributed team while contributing to an innovative, client and delivery focused culture within his own group. Scope of Responsibility Implement Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Parsing tools, statistical data modelling, analysis to improve the operational efficiency of the ESG business and help ESG Quant group with advance modeling implementation. Deliver new functionality for the internal production platform and the client delivery platform for the ESG Business. Closely collaborate with Product Management, Quality Assurance, Data Operation and IT Infrastructure on all stages of software development life cycle. Specific Knowledge/ Skills 4 or more years of experience in data science, data discovery and machine learning initiatives. Desired Experience Experience in finding patterns in data and creating statistical models, data exploration, data visualization and data mining Proven track record delivering business solutions leveraging Natural Language Processing, Neural Network and other Machine Learning technologies. Understanding of good software development practices: TDD, refactoring, pair-programming, solid design. Familiarity with Agile development methodology Kanban/ Scrum, etc. Great familiarity with technologies commonly used in data science such as Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, Docker, etc. Familiarity with various database technologies such as relational, graph and timeseries databases. Source code control systems, especially Git. Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed software development team. Self-motivated, pro-active and demonstrating an exceptional drive towards delivery. Desired Qualifications A degree in in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
