Job Description

Technical Support of large-scale Virtual Clouds used for purpose of Training Support involving Servers, Computers, Terminals, Projectors, Interactive Smart Boards and associated systems used by company employees and customers in Varian Training centers. Primary responsibility is providing Global, Level 2 - Technical Support to Varian employees and its customers.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Primarily office based with occasional travel or remote work
  • Monitor and respond to L2 support requests via ServiceNow
  • Support L1 and L2 team members when requested
  • Escalate issues or critical incidents to L3 - System Engineers
  • Installation, configuration and support of Microsoft, VMware, Citrix and Varian products
  • Installation, configuration and support of classroom equipment and associated systems
  • Coordinate and support internal and external training events at Customer sites
  • Coordinate and support 3rd Party Vendor services at Varian and/or Customer sites
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment and systems
  • Create and maintain required documentation for educating and supporting Varian employees and customers in the operation and use of all supported equipment and systems
  • Keeping informed and up-to-date on operating characteristics, design factors and technical requirements of Varian and 3rd Party Hardware and Software products used
  • Plan own activities in cooperation with system engineers and manager to prepare for new products and systems via training courses or self-development
  • Report by means of time sheets / expense reports / training reports etc. (as applicable) regularly / weekly to ensure accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities is available / maintained up to date
  • Maintain a high degree of professional knowledge and safety consciousness according to VMS guidelines in order to perform activities under the safest working conditions. Keep informed about other Oncology Systems products and continuously follow / attend training to keep him informed about arising new technologies / platforms according to the need for future classroom preparation
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge required in the role:

  • Software industry - Demonstrable knowledge of and proven experience working with customers, vendors, computers, servers, networking and virtualization technologies
  • Microsoft technology - Windows Server 2008-2016, SQL Server 2008-2014, AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO and PowerShell scripting and automation. Azure is desirable
  • VMware technology - Large-scale, vSphere, vCloud Director (8.x-9.x), PowerCLI, vRealize Automation, Orchestrator, Horizon View and Workspace One
  • Citrix technology - Desirable, Large-scale, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop (7.x)
  • Customers - Ability to listen and engage with technical and non-technical employees to understand their requirements
  • Clinical - Prior experience working in a Clinical environment, particularly Radiation Oncology would be advantageous

Experience required in the role:

  • Education - Apprenticeship in Information Technology, respective IT diploma or equivalent experience
  • Certifications - Microsoft, VMware and/or Citrix are desired
  • IT industry experience - Min. 3 years
  • Virtualization exp. - Min. 1 years
  • Varian Products - Desired, 2 years
  • Global - A global mind-set and previous travel abroad would be advantageous
