Job Description

    * Role Responsibilities Job Summary This role provides strategic direction and oversight of risk management for the AME region within the broader Group Unsecured Risk Team. Works closely with in-country risk management. teams, Product/ 1st line teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders across CPBB and Group Risk. Reviews and approves policy change and test proposals, sets group policy, provides effective challenge to both 1st and 2nd line proposals, and propagates best practices. Broadly seeks to build sustainable business growth while ensuring sound risk management policies, strategies and practices.Strategy
    • Head of Unsecured Credit Risk management(CRM), responsible for managing the portfolio credit risk profile within the Bank s risk appetite.
    • Ensure consistent application and enforcement of the policies, processes and controls in all markets in a region (either ASA, AME or GCNA as applicable).
    • Drive innovation in advancing Risk Strategy, data usage and risk assessment tool development. Champion efforts at the group level and ensure applicable adoption across the respective region.
    • Provide unsecured risk leadership on digital partnerships including fintech platforms, digital ecosystems and marketplace lenders. Includes engagement on deal structure, policies and applicable country oversight.
    • Be an agent for positive change and provide key thought leadership.
    Business
    • Uphold the integrity of risk / return decisions, through effective challenge of business and control function partners.
    • Ensuring that decisions are properly informed and consistent with strategy and risk appetite.
    • Engage with business functions, including Digital Partnership Risk team, to evaluate potential external partnerships and define requirements for new partner relationships.
    • Drive advancements in strategic risk management activities including test design and growth / risk mitigation credit strategies.
    • Provide robust and insightful analysis on the regional unsecured lending portfolio in MT / Regional Meetings to facilitate risk reward trade off discussions and decisions making.
    • Partner with the business to deliver strategic opportunities while remaining within agreed risk appetite.
    • Engage with the Group Product team and other business stakeholders on initiatives in line with business objectives while ensuring sustainable performance.
    • Work collaboratively with risk control and business partners - always in the spirit of Here for Good .
    Processes
    • Work with Regional and Group Policy Analytics COE for new capability development and policy formulation.
    • Work with Group functions and in-country teams to contribute to and challenge credit loss budgeting and ongoing credit performance forecasts along with loss provision proposals.
    • Monitor, review and control risk profiles to ensure that portfolio shape is in line with strategy.
    • Assist Global Head, Unsecured Credit Risk in maintaining the Retail Banking Credit Policy to ensure policy aligns with the agreed risk appetite, reflects the key risk characteristics of the portfolio, and enables effective controls.
    • Assist Global Head, Unsecured Credit Risk to ensure operational risk assessment processes are maintained and properly reported.

    • Provide for ongoing training and development of staff in both policy and analytical roles.

    Risk Management
    • As technical expert, provide insightful guidance, review / ensure robust analyses to facilitate credit policy and risk appetite discussions and decision making in the risk governance and MT / regional / group meetings.
    • Drive advancements in strategic risk management activities including test design and growth / risk mitigation credit strategies.
    • Anticipate changes in the credit conditions; work with respective credit officers in regional markets to implement effective portfolio actions that mitigate potential risks.
    Governance
    • Ensure specific and general stress tests are being conducted periodically, in accordance with the assertions made within Group / Regional / Country IAAP documents, including understanding the financial impact of the credit grade migration and potential constraints on new business.
    • Supervision of the implementation and enforcement of the credit policies and risk control procedures.
    • Review program proposals for new and existing products submitted by countries for approval, ensuring all risk dynamics are properly addressed and controlled.
    • Assist Global head of policy in maintaining the Retail Banking Credit Policy to ensure policy aligns with the agreed risk appetite, reflects the key risk characteristics of the portfolio, and enables effective controls.
    Regulatory and Business Conduct

    • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
    • Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

    Our Ideal Candidate
    • Appropriate academic training in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Operational Research and Economics; BA / BS degree and post-graduate degree or MBA is desired.
    • 10+ years of functional risk experience in the areas of Retail Credit Risk Management; expertise in non-financial risk management areas is a plus.
    • Good knowledge and grasp of banking practices, financial markets, Basel II and all Consumer Banking lending products at a higher level and awareness of the country regulatory frameworks within the region.
    • Ability to make independent decisions with a strong sense of empowerment and leadership skills to command the respect of a cross functional set of professionals at senior level (internal and external) working in open ended situations.
    • Proven management and leadership skills; Ability to motivate a lead a whole function and multi-country teams into changing and challenging situations; matrix management experience is essential.
    • Excellent communication skills- written and oral.
    • Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
