Job Description

The Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the Trade and Cash Client Journeys supporting clients based in Taiwan and providing country operational capabilities to clients across the network. This includes Factory and Studio based activity performed by country teams and teams based in hub locations supporting the country.
  • Partner with business heads to support the commercialization potential of Taiwan business, i.e. higher revenues, increased transaction volumes and improved fee income.
  • Drive constant client interaction into the client journey, to elevate the client experience especially for key clients. Lead the service teams to deliver high quality client interactions with solutions that meets client expectations.
  • Work with the Global and Regional Digital, Data and platform stakeholders and partners to refine and implement the business strategic agenda incorporating macroeconomic, geo political and regulatory changes to ensure commercialisation of all Trade and Cash products, with a specific focus on market trends and regulations that will impact business and volume growth.
  • Work with the client segments, and Transaction Banking by bringing technical expertise, operational design and execution capabilities together to enable an end to end, seamless, client focused delivery of Trade and Cash products
  • Work with the Country COO to develop and implement a business aligned strategy that meets clients requirements, including a human capital agenda for development of key skills (e.g. new ways of working and product expertise).
  • Accountable for the implementation of Trade and Cash Operations technology capability to effectively service client needs. Own the end-to-end accountability for transaction processing and operational delivery of trade and Cash products to clients. Ensure systems, capabilities and processes are fit for purpose and are implemented as per required standards and remediated where not.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Bank s Operational Risk Framework (ORF) in the county, and supports the Group s operational risk strategy, and associated operational risk procedures to ensure that operational risk is effectively managed at the business and operations level.
  • Responsible for delivery of agreed outcomes on standard metrics/scorecards aligned to the 5-year business plan and 90-day backlog, e.g. cost, productivity, service levels, risk.
  • Work with Country COO s to agree regional and local priorities, and resolve issues around the operating model, systems and processes. Ensure country requirement are prioritised into investment plans, remediation initiatives and any other process as appropriate.
  • Challenge status quo in driving courageous conversations of doing business with Right Clients with a sustainable cost/ income ratio
  • Maintain strong oversight over country operations outsourced to GBS and other vendors
Business, Strategy, Operations & Infrastructure
  • Execute the Group s strategic direction and roadmap for Cash and Trade in the region, aligned with Business Strategy and investment appetite.
  • Develop and execute the right shoring strategy and continually review opportunities to deliver efficiency improvements across countries.
  • Collaborate with Technology on futuristic digital opportunities, pre-empt disruptive forces and commercialise innovative use of technologies
  • Own the financial performance targets of front to back operations and drive the respective region / countries to prioritize investments into making client journey simpler, faster, better Challenge status quo in driving courageous conversations of doing business with Right Clients with a sustainable cost/ income ratio.
  • Ensure continual experimentation within the client journey to deliver outcomes that align to the strategy and product backlog.
  • Provide regular updates to global and regional management in a timely manner on notable operational developments and issues in the region and drive the resolution of thematic client issues and process issues
  • Participate in deal reviews for deals and ensure that the best solution is provided and replicated across clients, products and markets
  • Regular review of business performance metrics to ensure transparency to stakeholders and in line with the 5-year plan.
Governance & Risk Management
  • Create a climate where risk issues are surfaced without fear and resolved as part of our culture.
  • Proactive in seeking regular assurance that the Country Trade and Cash Team is performing to an acceptable risk and control standard as per the defined Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
  • Role model a strong, collaborative business relationship between Trade and Cash Operations and service with Senior Country Business Heads and GBS. Maintain strong lines of communication with hubs through an effective communication process.
  • Ensure that all material country and generic operational risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, monitored and reported to relevant governance forums, in country, region and group, and ensure that all practical efforts are taken to ensure a satisfactory (impeccable) auditable environment in the region.
  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness become apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
  • Balance business performance delivery and cost management constraints with risk and control matters to ensure that they do not materially threaten the group s ability to remain within risk appetite.
  • Ensure, along with business heads, processes for projects, products, clients, and controls are fit for purpose and meet regulatory requirements or remediated where not.
  • Challenge processes, procedures and policy where there is a more effective way to do things. Escalate issues, blockages, challenges and trends to the Country Business Head, Product Managers, COOs and TB Country Heads as required.
  • Support TB Business Heads; Taiwan COO with appropriate governance metrics; in developing high levels of front office awareness and ownership across the region; and by ensuring operational risks are retained within the appropriate risk tolerance.
  • Raise awareness of business controls, governance and supervision amongst TB Front Office and operations staff in the country and ensure an appropriate culture amongst all staff in this regard.
  • Embed the Group s values and code of conduct. Develop a robust culture to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees.
Business Continuity Management:
  • Responsible for ensuring an adequate Business Continuity Management ( BCM ) plan is in place across the business, to facilitate continuity of critical business operations in the event of significant business interruption.
People and Talent:
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Sets appropriate tone and expectations for the team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people such that the team is skilled and experienced to deliver its obligations. Ensure succession planning for critical roles.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development, ensure that direct reports are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, with the expectation that everyone in Operations are drivers and owners of client outcomes.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Review team structure and capacity plans in accordance with change in business structure and demand.
