Job Description

Allied Digital Services Ltd - Jobcode - SL-2 01 Level 2 Storage (EMC, NetApp, HP) Profile of the position:

The primary responsibility of this role will be to help administer the enterprise storage environment, and to work independently on operational efforts. Day-to-day responsibilities will include: provisioning/reclaiming storage, troubleshooting storage-related issues, managing SAN, CIFS/NFS shares/volumes, and maintaining/implementing security permissions on the aforementioned volumes, among other project-related duties

Job Role
  • Provide production support for Oracle databases
  • Monitor and address database capacity and performance issues
  • Fully analyze performance issues in most critical Oracle databases.
  • Identify tuning opportunities, implement improvements and advise developers on SQL tuning options.
  • Interact with fellow Database Administrators to disseminate process and configuration improvements
  • Interact with application developers and management as well as database and database tool vendors
  • Administer production and development/test databases
    • Knowledge, skill and competencies
    • Must have minimum 3 years experience in Deploying, Managing and Administrating NetApp Storage. He should have administrative knowledge on EMC and HP storage as well.
    • Design, document and build infrastructure components related to storage solution requirements from application, systems and database teams
    • Design and develop monitoring systems that provide proactive, rather than reactive notifications to key business units and IT members
    • Will perform on-going optimization of the systems to ensure adequate capacity, availability and scalability. Performance monitoring and optimization of distributed storage environments
    • Ensure Storage Capacity is well understood and that strategies are in place to grow and shrink capacity as needed and well in advance of problems
    • Serve as escalation point for all storage-related incidents
    • Ensure that root causes of storage-related problems are understood and repaired
    • Prepares reports and presentations and necessary. Coordinates communication between peers, team, business owners and management
    • Available to support after hours and be available to support on call 24X7.
    • Prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrate initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Provision and reclaim SAN and NAS storage for HP-UX, Linux, AIX, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Fileservers, and VMware ESX/ESXi .
    • Red Hat Linux, HP-UX shell scripting abilities
    • Maintain and install fiber networks for SAN fabrics
    • Management and maintenance of physical fiber optic network for SAN fabric environment
    • Be able to communicate with customer personnel in terms that non-storage personnel can understand
    • Be familiar with storage industry trends, offerings and major suppliers
    Desired Qualification
    • Exp : 5-10 yrs/ 2-3 yrs in storage admin
    • Should have worked on Storage Solutions like HP, HP MSA, HP EVA, EMC, Net App.
