Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Change Initiatives:
  • Work with IT BA, consultants to clearly articulate Group and AC strategic requirements.
  • Work closely with Front/Mid Office teams to design and implement end to end process flows/controls
  • Oversee/Review project work stream relating to
  • Accounting requirements documentation and scope agreement (multi GAAP, process and reporting domain)
  • Analyse AS-IS vs TO-BE step changes and business change plan for deploying To-Be.
  • Scenario building and UAT process
  • Training and readiness of accounting teams.
  • Data migration and cut over (planning and execution)
  • Go live planning and post go live review of data, attributes and resolution of issues
  • Resource planning and business readiness planning
  • Monthly Financial and Management Accounting
  • Ensure that accounting assertions are reviewed and correctly reflected, examples:
  • Capitalisation and amortisation of assets are accurately reflected as per the accounting rules
  • Balances reconciled and fully understood. example bank and loan, intercompany, interfaces with front end systems, etc.
  • balance sheet positions are well understood and
  • Ensure that the monthly management accounts are finalised by appropriate application of IFRS, and accounting policies which will include, but not limited to-, revenue recognition, accounting of joint ventures, areas where netting is required, FX revaluation, stock valuations reconciliations, accounting of pre-finance, prepayments and prepaid and transfer pricing.
  • Be responsible and accountable for drawing up monthly accounting packs and reporting into Hyperion, within the defined timelines, and reporting to the Group Accounting teams and to the Divisional Controller with appropriate commentaries.
  • Annual Accounts and Audit
  • Responsible for the Group annual accounts finalisation and audit, which is at 30th September.
  • To support the obligatory statutory audit process and ensure satisfactory closure of the audits with the external auditors.
  • Controlling
  • Work closely with the Front/Mid Office in a fast moving business where inherent risk has to be mitigated by implementing imaginative and effective controls.
  • To monitor and control bank accounts, statements and balances; Debtors and Creditors together with intercompany.
  • Address adhoc requests as they come from various stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
  • Qualified Accountant with strong academic background, preferably first attempt
  • Extensive experience in accounting, application of IFRS, financial instruments and derivatives accounting, management reporting and financial reporting
  • Must have intense experience of managing teams and processes across broad spectrum of accounting functions and systems
  • Demonstrable ability to straddle details, as well as keep an eye on the big picture.
  • Demonstrable ability to drive business process changes - challenging current business practices, working with key business process personnel, as well as updating or articulating issues to management
  • Preferable to have candidate with experience of ERP or technology transformation assignments core member or key delivery owner in accounting domain. Such an experience in a multinational environment is an added advantage
  • Proven ability to act as a bridge between Accounting team and the business or the technical developers to ensure all Accounting and Change expectations are fully understood and translated at accounting team level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of operating in an international environment, preferably from working for an international company.
  • Self-motivated with a drive and determination to obtain understanding of complex, business-driven transactions and report these accurately according to the appropriate accounting standards.
  • Willingness to leverage technology to complete/ improve daily tasks.
