Job Description

Team: Institutional Sales and Trading Surveillance Threat Analytics Threat Analytics is a newly created function in Compliance reporting to the Global Head of Strategy for ISG Trade Surveillance. The Firm s ISG Trade Surveillance program is responsible for discharging the monitoring activities relating to the market abuse risks including market manipulation and insider trading generated by the Firm s Institutional Securities Group trading activities.Threat Analytics is responsible for proactively designing, and executing bespoke analyses / deep dives as part of investigations into targeted areas of perceived risk (in part by connecting the dots between various risk silos), examples of which may be identified from industry issues, management concerns etc., *Primary Responsibilities (Day Job) The Data Analyst will report functionally into the London based Head of Threat Analytics.Supporting the build out of the Threat Analytics functionCollaborating with Legal and Compliance colleagues to identify and leverage data relevant to the risk area(s) under investigation (e.g. Global Financial Crimes, Trade Surveillance, Communications Surveillance, Control Group, Conduct Risk, Coverage Compliance, Regulatory Enquiries, Legal / Litigation etc.)Liaising with relevant Technology Groups to obtain requisite technical knowledge required to navigate and utilize Firm dataPerforming simple and complex data manipulations on large datasets to support bespoke analysesDeveloping solutions that derive insights from a variety of data sources (trading systems, exchange data, monitoring systems, etc.), connecting the dots on compliance risks facing the FirmDesigning and / or executing bespoke approaches using advanced analytical techniques including Network and Outlier AnalysisDocumenting and maintaining an accurate and appropriately detailed account of investigationsProviding input into / creating materials relating to management reporting for key stakeholdersKeeping abreast of industry standards and regulatory trends in the Legal and Compliance Data Analytics spaceRequirements Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in an analytical role
  • Experience in relevant programming languages used by data scientists and / or data analysts (i.e. Python / R)
  • Functional experience with analytical toolkits (i.e. Zeppelin, Jupyter, Dataiku etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience of conducting investigations as part of a previous role
  • Experience with visualization and dashboard tools such as Tableau and Kibana
Knowledge
  • Understanding of capital markets including market microstructure
  • Awareness of types of market abuse including market manipulation and insider dealing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and IT systems generally
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytical methodologies / techniques relating to artificial intelligence / machine learning
Skills and Qualification
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or a related technical discipline
  • Comprehensive database knowledge including types, schemas and query languages
  • Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Experience interpreting laws or regulations
  • Knowledge of trade booking and settlements
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytical methodologies / techniques relating to artificial intelligence / machine learning
Coverage
  • Monday to Friday from 09.00AM to 6.00PM India time with flexibility on standard working hours for time sensitive matters (including India Public Holidays).
