We live our values and build strong teams of people passionate for their job and dedicated to always changing for the better.Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply through the job portal and include a recent CV in English in their application.Show More Key responsibilitiesThe position reports to the Head, Responsible Ship Recycling and requires to be based in Alang, Turkey, China or another location to audit and supervise the ship recycling facilities daily (Mon-Sat), in-line with the facility working hours. With a major share of recycling likely to be in Gujarat, it will form your standard permanent location.It offers a unique opportunity to represent us at global ship recycling destinations and interact directly with the facility ownership, management and HSE team to secure compliance with our agreement and standard.To supervise that all our assets are responsibly recycled in compliance with the Maersk Standard and the facilities continually improve and innovate to meet global standards.To provide operational and technical assistance to recycling facilities management and HSE team to ensure safe, responsible and environmentally sound ship recycling is carried out at all times.To lead and deliver audits, inspections, studies, etc. needed to strategically meet our objectives.To develop and key account manage the audit improvement plan with all Maersk-approved facilities.To develop training material customised to the recycling facility activities for different categories of facility workers.To develop training and drill matrix and carry out relevant training sessions and mock drills at regular frequencies.To contribute to discussions, organise/facilitate/attend meetings and stakeholder visits as our representative.To specify processes and ensure effective monitoring, control and support of all activities at the recycling facilities.To ensure reports are prepared and timely disseminated to all involved stakeholders.To capacity build in the location where we engage today and create attractive opportunities globally.To support in developing a strategy for optimising the end of life value of owned vessels, pushing industry stakeholders to overcome regulatory, capability and capacity barriers, lobbying for the increased demand of RSR and push for transparency through the SRTI.To drive value for Maersk by liaising with customers and investors queries and engaging in the wider Alang area development.Show More We are looking forThe ideal candidate would be a Senior Chief Officer or Second Engineer, with at least 3 years work experience, and possess the Master s or Chief Engineer s certificate of competency or be an advanced industrial HSE professional with more than 10 years work experience in oil and gas/dry bulk, equivalent sectors. You thrive in a dynamic high-pace independent environment with good analytical skills and have deep knowledge in QHSE, local laws, auditing principles and human rights standards.Previous audit/vetting, project management or recycling industry experience shall be an added advantage.You enjoy traveling, have sharp interpersonal, planning and coordination skills with the ability to manage a diverse stakeholder base, including facility workers to ensure seamless compliance with our standard.You are a keen trainer, who believes that continual effective training and monitoring leads to improved competency.You have a strong working knowledge of written and spoken English. Fluent Hindi speaking is essential and Gujarati preferable. You have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.As a person, you have a natural ability to handle a lot on the plate, are outgoing, service-minded with attention to detail and above all a high degree of ownership with a proactive approach.You are highly reliable and flexible with whatever work you undertake, can take initiative, prioritise and to organise your workload.Depending on the selected ship recycling destinations and need for resource deployment, you are willing to relocate to Turkey, China or another location.Please apply online no later than 31-Jan-21 by submitting your CV and motivational letter.
