Reliability & Production Engineering Resiliency Engineering is a production-oriented discipline focused on improving service availability, latency, scalability, performance, and efficiency for technology products in Morgan Stanley. Job Profile Team Profile: The role of application support team member is within a department providing a range of level 2 production management services to the Operations business unit at Morgan Stanley. The department covers systems supporting the Operations business units activities such as settlements, confirmations, regulatory reporting and positions keeping. Although experience of Operations systems and business flow is not essential the role requires that this is developed. The role gives an opportunity to build this knowledge from scratch or to further build on past experience including taking Morgan Stanley business unit certification. Role Profile: The Reliability and Production Engineering team provides production management services including end user support, systems monitoring, incident and problem management, plant management and event management. You will run a set of corporate action and asset servicing systems management functions (predominantly developed in house and deployed on a distributed Linux platform using Sybase and DB2 databases and a range of both internal and external connectivity over channels including TCP-IP, MQ and SWIFT). End user GUIs are a mixture of C++ clients Scala other and web based sessions. Scripting and tool development is encouraged to help perform data analysis and commoditize request resolution steps. Aiding trouble shooting with strong technical skills in both the Linux environment and Sybase/DB2 databases, the aim being to keep resolution within the L2 team. Problem management to seek the cause of inefficiencies we face, to enables us to take a metrics driven approach to prioritizing work. The holder of this role would be a key contributor to cross department initiatives opening up the possibility of visibility to a broad section of the Firm. The role offers an interesting mix of technical and business challenges allowing the holder to develop an in-depth understanding of how Morgan Stanleys Operations business works., * Skill Set Proven track record of working in Level 2+ application support of distributed systems. Experience in financial services required. Strong application support experience of Linux environment .i.e. administration and basic infrastructure. Strong application support experience of Sybase and DB2 database support. Experience with SQL de-bugging and performance tuning. Perl, Python, shell scripting and Java. Incident Management. Experience of end user support Experience with the settlements and confirmations process is a plus MQ and Autosys. Experience with large batch or MQ based systems and exposure to XML would be beneficial Qualifications/CriterionBachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field. 4 to 6 yrs of experience in Production Support role.
