Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager for Energy Storage Systems Integration, to strengthen our Solution Engineering capabilities worldwide. The role encompasses both product development and systems integration. The engineer will be reporting into Sterling Wilsons Head of Energy Storage Systems, who leads the companies Energy Storage (ES) Task Force. Key Responsibilities:

  • Detailed Engineering of electrical and control aspects of BESS solutions, which involves collaboratively working with BESS Engineers to design bespoke BESS solutions
  • Preparing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Systems Integrations Test (SIT) plans for BESS systems
  • Commissioning BESS projects in cooperation with multiple project stakeholders including the S&W project delivery team. This involves (1) supporting resourcing and scheduling activities (2) developing and executing commissioning plans (3) defining, developing and executing testing protocols based on market rules, local utility requirements, off-taker and third-party supply contracts (4) overseeing complete commissioning and acceptance testing
  • Coordinating with manufacturers, clients and internal stake holders for design reviews and specification development (scope: battery system (including BMS), balance of system, PCS and EMS).
  • Preparing equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions and bid evaluations for storage systems, inverters and other equipment as required
  • Reviewing of single line drawings, communication network diagrams, electrical schematics and BESS system layouts
  • Assisting in preparation of energy/power systems techno-commercial proposals
  • Work closely with multiple departments to provide successfully deliver BESS projects
Qualifications and Skills:
  • BE/BS degree in energy systems engineering or a relevant engineering field. MS preferred.
  • At least five years professional work experience in design of Power Systems for utility installations, PV plants, Battery Storage Systems
  • Experience of on-site BESS integration, FATs and SATs is required
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of Li-Ion batteries, Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and Solar Photovoltaics
  • Experience with commissioning of battery management system (BMS), energy management system (EMS), HMI and SCADA
  • Familiarity with common communication interfaces and protocols such as RS232, RS485, CAN, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, etc.
  • Experience of design to manufacture practices in electronics products, and to bring new designs all the way to manufacturing, field tests a market launch
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards and regulations used in USA, Australia, South East Asia and Africa
  • Experience with electrical system design, relay coordination, protection & control, grounding practice, HV and LV infrastructure
  • Be flexible and agile with the ability to manage change
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
