Job Description

Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)The incumbent is responsible to ensure process, product and system certification as per customer & country specific requirements for the implementation & adherence of Quality management system. The position is also responsible to provide testing support to the quality and production teams across plants and ensure procedures, techniques and testing standards are in place. Additionally, the position is also responsible to benchmark & test the company products vis- -vis the competition.KEYPERFORMANCE AREAS

• Adherence to testing plan
• Ensure timely conduct of test and timely submission of reports to internal customers.
• Ensure conformance to product/ systems as per required standards
• Timely application/ renewal of certifications
• Actively Participate in external competitions like QCFI / NCQC / CII
• Ensure quality standards in terms of zero error while testing the jobs.
• Adherence to product-wise benchmarking plan

KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPlanning:

• Provide inputs on the requirements for testing infrastructure to meet requirements
• Proactively benchmark for new technology / cost efficiency methods
• Lead testing improvement initiatives that will result in improvement in quality of products
• Plan for the testing schedule based on the department workload
• Plan for resources including testing material, equipments, manpower etc
• Plan and schedule job wise test to be conducted by the department.

Testing:

• Define test norms and annual plan for testing (and retesting if required) at various labs across plants
• Evolve needs for additional processing and testing requirements and evaluate equipments to fulfill the same.
• Ensure adherence to test schedule and ensure timely completion of tests and submissions of reports
• Review the requirements and select the appropriate test for each product & process.
• Review the test results to accept or reject the product
• Inspect the testing being done by testing engineers
• Facilitate the inspections of Quality Surveyors by providing the reports / material
• Provide the latest standards and specifications for various tests to the plant teams
• Identify testing related problems and inconsistencies and provide inputs for corrective action
• Determine conformance of products to specifications, and identify all nonconforming products.
• Provide data and relevant analysis on non conforming productions to the Quality, Production and Process Engineering team
• Ensure all test equipments are maintained and calibrated and monitor their performance

Benchmarking

• Prepare a detailed plan and schedule for benchmarking of the company products vis- -vis competition
• Actively involved in the determination of parameters for benchmark testing
• Review benchmarking reports received from the plants and ensure adherence to parameters and procedures.
• Identify products to be benchmarked based on determined parameters, in consultation with R&D and Marketing
• Participate in the identification of the labs for the testing, whether it will be done in-house, external facilities, test tracks etc.
• Conduct fleet tests.
• Review the findings of the benchmarking and provide inputs to the various stakeholders

MIS and Reporting:

• Ensure the testing manuals and processes are well documented and maintained as per standards set
• Maintain records of all testing and service works carried out
• Maintain and update operating & training manuals for testing department
• Generate the overall testing inspection report & submit to the Department Heads
• Fulfill other documentation requirements for the certification.
• Ensure communications regarding certification decisions, certificates, and review results are sent to senior management.
• Review documentation in operators files received from staff to prepare for the inspection, including the prior inspection reports, and supporting documents
• Prepare detailed reports on benchmarking tests.

New Initiatives and Continuous Improvements:

• Lead initiatives to reduce cost of poor quality by ensuring timely inspection.
