Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONSettlements OperationsJob PurposeThe role holder will be responsible for day to day running of the Equity/Fixed incomesettlements department covering a variety of financial products across European domesticmarkets. Markets include UK Domestic (Crest), Italy, Spain, France, Greece and Belgium as wellas emerging and Scandinavian markets. It includes Agent clear, Euro Clear, Ex-Moves, UKDomestic, Market Portfolio Settlements, Emerging markets and Reconciliations.The role holder will provide ad hoc information to key stakeholders and will take responsibilityfor providing relevant management information (MI) to senior management and will use thisinformation to predict trends and spikes in work volumes to plan the strategy and resourcing oftheir area.The role holder will lead and drive the identification of process improvements and synergies onan ongoing basis and will liaise with subject matter experts (SMEs) on project enhancement forexisting and new markets and will monitor trends to make the processing of business morescalable within their budgeted headcount. The role holder will have accountability for elementsof their budget and will work with the business to meet any budgetary or headcount challengeswithout degradation to service. The role holder will lead the team in improving the StraightThrough Processing (STP) rate by identifying the root cause of exceptions and driving outinefficiencies from the business.Main AccountabilitiesPeople Management and Leadership:The role holder will set stretching objectives for self and team and deliver against thoseobjectives. They will lead, motivate, and develop teams to create a high performance cultureand enhance the knowledge base, skills, talent and capability of the team. The role holder willdemonstrate effective use of performance development, share best practice, identifysuccessors, and develop a culture of coaching and development. They will communicateprogress against plans, achievements, and challenges and encourage feedback in addition toensuring that the teams have the correct training and tools to undertake their duties to thehighest standards, delivering a world class service to APTP clients. He/She should also work onsuccession planning of teams key team players.Key clients (internal and external)The role holder will work with a number of key internal and external clients. These include theFront and Middle Offices, agent banks, clients, Euroclear and Crest. The importance of buildinga network and providing credibility to the broader stakeholder group is crucial.echnicalSkills/CompetenciesProfessional/technical experienceThe right candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of seven settlement teams covering a variety of Equities products across domestic European markets. They will have a thorough understanding of securities settlement and up to date technical knowledge of various domestic markets settlement such as

  • Crest, Spain, Italy, Scandinavian and emerging markets like Russia etc.
  • Buy-in regulations
  • Exchange deliveries
  • CASS/CMAR regulations and reporting
  • Exchange Futures deliveries
  • Corporate action trade
  • Expertise in dealing with transaction and position level Reconciliations
  • Knowledge of T2S and CSDR projects
  • Exchange-Moves

They will have excellent attention to detail with a high level of strategic vision. They will demonstrate a practical knowledge of the implementation and execution of all HR tasks including but not limited to, performance development, managing poor performance and managing attendance. They will have experience of developing succession and a strong management team, within which they will proactively drive team cohesion. The ideal candidate will create, prepare and control the management information related to the team and have the ability to interact and communicate with staff at all levels. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead the team while motivating and developing their direct reports and the wider group. The right candidate will demonstrate excellent commercial and risk awareness and be able to escalate potential issues to senior management when required.Experience, qualificationsand other requirementsspecific to role:Academic and professional qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have a high level of education including Higher grade and
  • preferably be degree educated, or equivalent. Industry recognised qualifications are desirable. They will be up to date with market and sector developments. The role holder should have min 10-15 years of experience in investment banking industry and handled equities or fixed income settlements in last 5 years in similar capacity in other IB organizations.
