Job Description

We support an extensive range of Capital Markets products and services including Fixed Income (FX, Rates, Credit, Muni, Cash and Derivatives) where Citi is consistently a dominant top 3 player in the market, Equity (Cash, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Futures, Listed Derivs, FXPB) where Citi has a significant growth program to continue to build out its capabilities and services; and Syndicates where we support both FI and EQ new issues and IPOs.Our Operations groups are core to the success of the Markets business and has significant impact across the lifecycle of a Trade. We partner extensively with a range of internal stakeholders including Front Office Sales and Trading Desks, Compliance, Legal, Finance and HR; alongside having significant interaction with our external client base, playing a key role in the overall client experience. We have a Client relationship group dedicated to overseeing the group service performance and strategic partnership for our top tier client base, where we play a key role in supporting our global clients to ensure they have a first class experience when doing business with Citi.Our Digitization and Implementation group works alongside our Operations teams delivering automation solutions to solve for operational challenges. We partner with Citi s innovation labs to drive optimization and overall play a pivotal role in enabling us to transform to achieve our target operating model.Our Technology partners develop and implement a wide range of applications that support the Operations, Change, Design and Implementation groups in providing innovative products and solutions. We have re-imagined how to provide technology and service in our domain through the alignment of our team vision, culture, and aggressive retirement plan for legacy applications and adoption of a micro-based containerized cloud environment. We comply with global regulations and internal policies and adopt a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to reduce risk through the continuous evaluation of our controls; to protect our clients, the firm and our reputation.We work closely with our external global peers, partners and regulators, and play an integral part in leading an agenda at the forefront to optimise and streamline processes, and drive strategy across our industry.Job Purpose :The South Asia Markets Operations will report into the South Asia Senior Country Operations Head and the APAC FX Operations Head. Our South Asia Markets Operations group encompasses of Operations teams across India, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh. The individual will be required to proactively partner with Business, Technology, Controls and Corporate Functions partners to lead/strategize/build/deliver standardized, scalable and sustainable operational model and service standards for a large suite of Markets products including FX, FX Options, Money Market, Bonds, Derivative (Rates, Credit, Commodities), Equities and Futures.The individual will be responsible for leading a diverse set of talent comprising of ~120 people across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.The individual will be invested in and assist in helping to execute our Operations strategy, driving our target operating model, with a proactive People agenda, ensuring a robust control environment, enhancing service capabilities, and simplifying/ transforming platforms to build appropriate scale.The individual will have accountability for daily supervisory risk and service oversight, ensuring that the objectives of Operations, the Business and our Clients are executed to a high standard and in full accordance with regulatory and control requirements.Citibank India is subject to extensive and complex regulatory reporting requirements covering all asset classes. These regulatory reporting requirements are evolving in nature, and as such the candidate will be required to have extensive engagement with various in-country and overseas stake holders to ensure timely and seamless delivery of these regulatory framework and reporting requirements.Organizational Oversight:
    • Overseeing and leading daily core operations maintaining a culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis as well as acting as a senior point of escalation
    • Developing an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements; delivery of periodic presentations to external regulators as required
    • Ensuring the infrastructure and tools are in place to effectively manage risk and service our clients to a high standard
    Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Acting as key point of contact for South Asia Markets Operations across internal and external stakeholders and Operational Product Heads
    • Continued engagement and face off with a range of senior Business, Technology and Operations partners
    • Acting as senior Operations lead managing due diligence visits and other governance forums
    • Supporting and partnering with the Business to facilitate a growing and expanding client base / operational offering
    • Engaging in client discussions & relationship management activities as required to support the Business

    Organisational Transformation:
    • Leading the Organization to deliver vs goals to meet the Target Operating Model
    • Leading the site to simplify, improve and measure processes by delivering enhancements to the control environment, and the customer journey with input to design techniques and digital automation
    • Supporting the delivery of strategic platform re-engineering initiatives, with conscious intent to standardize and industrial flow, reducing manual touch points and aligning tech delivery vs. business goal and wallet share optimization
    • Driving the implementation of initiatives to continuously improve STP rates and build scalable business model leveraging on innovation, using low code solutions and challenging the status quo.
    • Active engagement and thought leadership in the development and implementation of multi-year operations strategy, in partnership with the Operational Product Heads, Business and Technology stakeholders
    • Managing budgets and headcount plans in order to meet targets
    Qualifications and Skills:
    • Minimum Bachelor Degree with a Business Administration, Finance or other equivalent background
    • Min 12-15 years of experiences in the financial industry, including experience in leading operations team delivering operational activities, especially in-depth understanding of local regulations covering FX, Money Market, Fixed Income, Derivatives & Margining and Equity/Futures Products and Middle Office
    • Experience in delivering strategic change programmes spanning multiple years in a fast paced, large global financial services firm, ideally in an operations organisation
    • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add product impact to both strategic and tactical technology
    • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise, demonstrated success interacting with senior management both in the business, corporate functions as well as the Operations, Business and Technology environments
    • Strong risk management and control mindset
    • Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources
    • Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
    • Demonstrated experience leading people and developing effective and diverse teams
    • Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
