Toxicologist Job DescriptionPosition Purpose:Kimberly-Clark Global Product Safety & Clinical Affairs is seeking a Toxicologist to conduct chemical ingredient hazard assessments and safety review of raw materials for a broad range consumer, personal care, and professional products to help ensure K-C products are safe for their intended use, and comply with all applicable governmental safety rules, regulations, corporate standards and consumer expectations. This position is located in Mumbai, India.Responsibilities include applying safety science principles to develop chemical and ingredient hazard assessments for components used in a range of products through review of scientific literature, toxicity safety data and safety testing under the guidance of senior professionals. The incumbent will be responsible for developing or assisting with the development of toxicologic and biocompatibility safety assessments of certain raw materials and components according to the intended product use.The incumbent is expected to apply specialized scientific knowledge, be self-motivated and be able to work independently on assigned projects. The incumbent is expected to differentiate scientifically credible data from questionable data when developing assessments, and will be expected to identify, develop and implement testing plans to address data gaps.Principal Responsibilities: Document and author ingredient and component hazard assessments that support human health safety assessments and chemical regulatory compliance of finished products, taking into consideration identified hazards and exposure according to the intended product use. This includes assessment of scientific literature, evaluation of the toxicological database, determination of appropriate toxicological and other safety endpoints, anticipated exposure assessments and written documentation. Develop new or revised testing protocols with limited assistance from more senior toxicologists or team leader. The incumbent is expected to work within the appropriate systems to conduct routine analytical, toxicity and safety-related studies to inform the assessment of products and components.Provide input into the development of product safety guidance, safety point-of-view papers and health risk assessments to internal and/or external technical experts as well as functional and business unit leaders and management.Basic Qualifications: 1.Degree in toxicology, pharmacology, biomedical or a related scientific field of study with prior relevant experience:Bachelor s degree with 3 years of experience, orMasters or other advanced degree with some relevant experience preferred2.Knowledge of scientific safety and toxicology practices, principles and procedures. Effective application of basic scientific skills in a business environment, as well as the ability and capacity to learn contemporary risk assessment processes, toxicological testing strategies, and related disciplines critical to providing assurance of safety for consumer products. 3.Excel at in-depth technical data review, interpretation, and communication of data and have strong attention to detail.4.Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills with demonstrated proficiency working effectively with technical staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Must be an effective communicator in oral and written correspondences as well as presentation formats.5.Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build strong relationships, work effectively and independently manage multiple tasks in a cross-functional business, academic or professional setting.
