Job Description

GIS Data Engineer IIJob Locations IN-Navi MumbaiRequisition ID 2021-57465 Category IT & Operations Whats the role SUMMARY OF JOB (Summarize most important responsibilities of position; 2-3 sentences MAXIMUM)A GIS Data Engineers II is a technical project manager, responsible for the execution and design of individual data integration processes, working closely with internal customers and having passion for spatial data.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions list in order of importance; 5-6 maximum)

  • Independently build, manage, modify, and execute increasingly complex data engineering processes and projects for the conversion and use of external digital sources in the creation and maintenance of the HERE databases and related products. Assume full accountability and ownership to successfully complete these projects.
  • Leverage data engineering technologies like FME, ArcGIS, Python, SQL, Postgres, QGIS and others to transform and integrate increasingly complex data, or create products
  • Ability to assess and manage risks of complex bulk integration efforts, realizing that as data amounts are high, risks are high.
  • Provide GIS and spatial data consultancy within, when needed, especially focused on bulk source integration efforts.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional projects, which will help to increase efficiency, quality and/or reduce costs within Core Map Group. Apply influence within teams.
  • Maturing engineering and consultancy mindset with focus on value and cost efficiency. Deliver what is needed as end result (not necessarily what was requested at the beginning).
  • Maintain a good understanding of relevant technologies and initiatives, and knowledge of the HERE Database content and product specification including various tools and technologies utilized for database creation and maintenance in general, E2E.
  • Design and apply technology in strategic and tactical ways to improve GIS Data Engineering processes, tools and scope. Use experience to recommend improvements for existing processes
  • Develop broad experience of projects and processes; re-engineer new process workflows.
  • Act with empathy and integrity among inter-departmental peers, so that Data Integration insight and advice reaches target.
  • Detect problems with data-conversion, bulk updates, or the MAP database and act on them

Errors may have impact on function/project.POSITION REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM EDUCATION, AMT. & TYPE OF WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB COMPETENTLY)
  • Graduate degree, but Master s degree preferred in computer science, geodesy, geography or related field
  • 3-4 years related work experience.
  • Demonstrated deep experience with FME, ArcGIS, or similar spatial tool
  • Expertise in at least one spatial tool or script language, and ability to learn other tools and programming languages.
  • Ability to customize solutions outside of off-the-shelf tools. Demonstrated problem solving and thinking creatively.
  • Understanding and ability to write into formats such as Oracle, GeoJSON, LRP, FGDB.
  • Experience with the HERE database and products preferred.
  • Developed organizational and multi-tasking ability with ability to function in a team environment.
  • Challenger mindset.
  • Punctual, independent worker, ability to work under time-pressure, excellent personal time management skills.
  • English, other languages preferred.
