1. Study diseases and conditions of the body2. Diagnose a wide range of diseases such as cancer, infectious diseases and diabetes3. Take samples of body tissue and fluids and test them to identify infectious agents that cause disease for example, bacteria, viruses (such as HIV) and parasites4. Write detailed reports on the findings of testsProvide advice to other medical practitioners5. Investigate deaths and complete autopsies6. Look after a blood bank in a laboratory and facilitate blood collection programmes7. Teach medical students and trainee pathologists8. Carry out research.9. Incumbent will be responsible for test authorizations10. Assuring the results that are reported are accurate11. To ensure good clinical practices/ to handle quality assurance and quality control effectively12. To provide training to team on good laboratory practices13. To manage manpower at laboratory with excellent leadership and management skills14. Suggest possible investigations to aid or confirm diagnosis.15. Keeping updated of new developments in laboratory science.16. Establishing a laboratory of international standard and recognized by the Department of health17. Setting up of efficient process and procedure for the laboratory Management and Administration of laboratory.18.
