Strong negotiation and communication skills: Senior purchase engineers must have excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively discuss purchase orders and contracts with suppliers. They must be able to speak confidently and clearly and be able to put across their point of view in a reasonable and persuasive manner.2. Organizational and analytical skills: Senior purchase engineers must be able to analyze the data related to their purchases, compare different suppliers and make decisions accordingly. They must also have strong organizational skills to manage and track their orders and contracts efficiently.3. Technical knowledge: Senior purchase engineers must have a good understanding of the technical aspects of the products they are buying and the industry they are buying them from, so that they can make informed decisions.4. Problem-solving skills: Senior purchase engineers often need to troubleshoot problems that arise with their orders, such as delivery delays, quality issues, etc. They must be able to analyze the issue, identify solutions and take corrective action as necessary.Job ResponsibilityDevelop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Negotiate cost effective purchase contracts with vendors. Monitor the performance of vendors to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards. Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential suppliers. Ensure that all purchases are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures. Analyze and monitor purchasing trends and pricing. Research potential suppliers to identify cost effective sources of supply. Prepare and submit timely purchase requisitions to vendors. Ensure that all purchasing documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with company policies. Maintain accurate records and files of all purchase transactions. Review inventories and order materials as required.
