Job Description

    Backup Administrator Job description:
    • Responsible for the L2 level support of backup software VERITAS backupex, Veeam, Arcserve, and Commvault platforms.
    • Works in a large mixed environment of both Windows and Linux servers.
    • Ability to manage multiple tape libraries of backup infrastructure.
    • Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to troubleshoot backup software issues, tape issues, and storage issues.
    • Needs to be proficient in policies and schedules, have the ability to create policies, and work with defined schedules is a must.
    • Must thoroughly understand backup software through the command line and through the GUI.
    • Must understand Linux and Windows commands, and understand how to troubleshoot backup issues on both Windows servers and Linux servers.
    • Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes.
    • Experience in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, shell or PowerShell scripting, and developing operational reports.
    • Escalate backup issues when necessary including opening support cases with OEM.
    • Understanding of patching and up-gradation of backup software.
