Job Description

    Purpose of the roleAs head of Operation and Maintenance of the Power Plant, the incumbent will have to drive economic, efficient and safe running of the power plant. The key responsibility is to maximizing profits and optimizing costs leading to higher customer satisfaction.Key Deliverable- Oversee daily operations of the power plant right from coal handling, loading of coal, heat generation, average coal consumption/kwh, ash handling and manpower deployment thereby maximizing plant availability, performance and efficiency through continuous process improvement and control.- Ensure 100% PLF of the plant as well as 90% plant availability factor.- Ensure high plant reliability by maintaining plant equipments (including boiler, turbine and their auxiliaries, power evacuation electrical network) in good health.- Ensure overall cost competitiveness by keeping control on coal / oil consumption as per desired standards and operating expense at or below the budgeted levels.- Ensure compliance with Power Purchase Agreement with emphasis on maximizing profits and minimizing penalties.- Achieve highest possible levels of health, safety and environment protection as per desired standards and ensure 100% regulatory and legal compliance.- Implement & promote Quality culture (5S+2S, Kaizen & TQM) across all processes in the plant.- Ensure good public / community and industrial relations through interface with regulatory, political, business, civic and public representatives.- Provide leadership through workforce planning, succession planning and training opportunities to foster continuous improvement.- Model and promote the Organizations Code of Business Ethics and Values.Desirable Attributes- Experience of leading the operation and maintenance of coal based thermal power plant / captive power plant with capacity not less than 50MW and handling a team.- In-depth knowledge of power plant equipments and their efficiency parameters.- Hands on experience of working on AFBC boilers- Basic knowledge of ERP / SAP or equivalent- Good understanding of Electricity Act, PPA, FSA, other long term /short term contracts and prevailing electricity regulations.- Updated about technological advancement and competitive business practices in power industry.- Communication skills- Analytical Thinking- Effective problem solving skills
