Job Description

Job Posting Title Technical Lead Summary otThe Database Engineer for BI Development is responsible for end to end development and analyzing, coding, writing and running unit tests, and debugging issues for a Data Warehouse project using SSIS for creating ETL Packages, SQL Stored Procedures and Microstrategy for BI Reporting. otThe person would be a member of the India based development team part of department spanning 2 locations, India and US.otIn addition to core development and coding responsibilities, the role requires working with US counterparts (Architects / Developers) in execution of overall project/release at the regional level. It is expected to follow design/coding guidelines provided by the architect group and work in collaboration with team members to produce quality products.otPart of the department and the group which works on latest SQL development tools and technologies. What youll do

  • Works with Software Architects, Product Managers, Product developers, subject matter experts and others to deliver quality software artifacts.
  • Participate in defining technical product requirements and high-level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality and integration with existing systems/platforms.
  • Participate in the implementation of solutions that will improve the current product performance, quality, processes and standards.
  • Writes unit, regression, load and stress tests to verify software programs. Prepares any test data required.
  • Mentors and guides team members.
  • Recommends design solutions and hardware requirements that align with product business value.
  • Participates in ramp ups and on boarding of new joiners.
  • Becomes subject matter expert over a period of time.
  • Transparency in the day-to-day functioning by effective status reporting to immediate supervisor. Manage issues/risks as they arise to minimize impact to sprint/project delivery goals.
  • Drive change in order to improve estimates and delivery quality. Focus on cross team success. Work well in a team environment. Assist other team members in all areas to achieve successful sprints and retrospectively provides feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for raising sprint and project related risks/issues to immediate supervisor.
  • Seek inputs on expectations around scope of work and agree upon key delivery milestones.
  • Day-to-day strong association/collaboration with the team.

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • It s an individual contributor position with strong technical blend and problem solving acumen.
  • Must possess strong technical and analytical skills set. Should be able to work independently and contribute towards overall sprint/project success.
  • Candidate should be open to travel for short durations.
  • BIDeveloper having strong hands-on experience in developing Applications using SQL Server DB and SSIS tool stack in Agile development environment.
  • Knowledge of BI reporting tool Microstrategy.
  • Good to have exposure with SSAS and SSRS.
  • Strong experience in writing complex Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions (UDF), Views and common table expression (CTE) etc.
  • Strong experience in SQL Server database 2012 and above.
  • Skilled at optimizing and refactoring large complicated SQL procedures.
  • Skilled at tuning queries and understanding query plans.
  • Experience in trouble shooting SQL Server performance issues.
  • Experience with ErStudio, ErWin or some other data modeling tool.
  • Experience with SQL Reporting Services, Integration Services and/or Analysis Services a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in TFS and GIT, aware of branching, merging etc.
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills
  • Able to think about end-to-end solution.
  • Able to grasp functional aspects well (quickly and with minimal guidance).
  • Good inter-personal skills. Should be able to mentor others technically.
  • Very good communication skills both verbal & written.
  • Articulate and should be able to express ideas and issues without inhibitions.
  • Ability to drive discussions towards conclusions.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Innovative thinking in problem solving.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of core Agile software engineering practices.
