Job Description

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a self-starting Data Analytics, Visualization and Reporting expert. In this role, you will be working as a primary technical consultant for enabling VIAVI customers to achieve business objectives through custom analytics, KPI s and data visualization of the massive amounts of network, test, process and performance data made available from our products.The Application Engineer will work directly with VIAVI customers, salesforce and Product Managers to gather and document dashboard and reporting requirements to meet customer s business needs. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing reports, data visualizations and data modeling that utilizes underlying data stores from VIAVI products and other customer enterprise data sources. You will meet with clients to understand their unique situation, ask questions to get to the root of their problems, and explore solutions that help transform their business.Responsibilities:

  • Develop visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using combination of feature capabilities in VIAVI product design and third-party reporting toolsets.
  • Actively engage in business requirement gathering sessions to understand, interpret and translate requirements into insightful and actionable information.
  • Modify, maintain, and support custom reports.
  • Develop any necessary SQL queries to facilitate the development of assigned dashboard views and reports.
  • Participate in testing and deployment of dashboards reports.
  • Serve as a source of knowledge and expertise on the created dashboard reports as well as the data sources they access.
  • Produce user and technical support documentation for created dashboard reports.
  • Train end users on new reports and dashboards
  • Perform analysis of data sources and processes to ensure data integrity, completeness and accuracy.
  • Connect to data sources, importing data and transforming data for Business Intelligence.
, *Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in Computer Science/Mathematics/Business Analytics or equivalent experience
  • Five plus years of experience in building software application
  • Highly proficient with business intelligence reporting and visualization tools (e.g. Yellowfin, Jreport, Tableau, etc.)
  • Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
  • Proficient in programming/scripting languages (Java, Java Script, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with data modeling and databases with understanding in the design of queries and reporting
  • Excellent written, oral and inter-personal communication skills
  • Fluent in documenting solution use cases/requirements
  • Must have a passion for data and its criticality to the successful operation of a business.
Additional Considerations
  • Experience in telecom test and measurement a plus
  • Experience in technologies and trends in telecommunications, Fiber, DOCSIS/DSL, Business services, Ethernet/IP, cloud, SDN/NFV or networking markets a plus
