This exciting role offers the opportunity to:The Specialist (SME for Validation of Substation Automation/Distribution Automation Products) will be a software quality control specialist with proven experience in testing embedded and application software in the above domain. He/she will define test strategy and develop Integration & System test plans and procedures to verify Functional and non-Functional aspects of our Substation Automation/Distribution Automation Products Products/Applications in the real-time embedded software applications intended for the Electric Utility Industry. We are looking for motivated professionals with strong skills in testing who will play a key role in verifying and validating the next-generation technology solutions like SCADA that change how users connect, explore, and interact with information and devices.Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project, objectives, and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. • Provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and mentorship to members of the Test Organization.
• Defines test strategy, develops detailed test plans, and test procedures from functional specification and design documents
• Designs test beyond simple functional verification to include performance, boundary and negative testing.
• Identify and ensure requirements traceability to test cases
• Devise tests for adequate test coverage to ensure robust and reliable software
• Execute manual and automated test procedures
• Identify and report defects found during testing. Analyze the failures and report out at appropriate level for defect submission in the defect tracking system.
• Assist in prioritization of reported defects and the work with Development team for timely closure.
• Verify resolved defects.
• Record and report test results in an effective manner
• Ensure test records are accurate and complete
• Participate in documentation and test procedure reviews
• Participate in root cause analysis of reported defects
• Generates test data sets validated validate functional and non-functional performance
• Leads in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents; interacts with Management, leads, and other team members in a one-to-one or one-to-many meeting format.
• Communicates technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders; strong verbal, documentation and interpersonal communication skills are required.
• Identifies opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements, and drives those from concept to implementation.
• Validates official customer product releases and takes responsibility for the end result.
• Work directly with stakeholders, engineering, and test teams to create high-quality products that solve end-user problems.
• Coordinate work across various teams in a complex environment
QualificationsQualifications
• Required: Bachelor s degree in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science Engineering from accredited institution
• Desired: Master s degree in Electrical/Computer/Electronics & Telecomm Engineering from accredited institution.
Requirement:
• 8+ yrs of experience in Embedded Software Verification and Application software QA
• 2+ years of experience in of verification or development on Linux based products (or real time multi tasking operating system)
• Experience with development of test jigs to simulate input conditions and capture output for functional and non-functional testing e.g. Performance.
• Following skills and experience are highly desirable: Experience with industrial communication protocols especially used in substation/Distribution: e.g. DNP3, SEL, Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/103/104
• Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP and FTP
• Experience with protocol analyzers and test tools such as ASE2000 and Ethereal
• Familiarity with electric utility SCADA equipment and concepts
• Experience with system level testing.
• Understanding of emulators/simulators is advantage.
• Should have good knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Zephyr and JAMA
• Preferable to have good knowledge of repository management tools like GIT, SVN, TFS, BitBucket
• Very good communication skill
• Very good at managing multiple tasks
• Very good at understanding and prioritizing tasks, issues and work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Problem solving skills, Working in ambiguity, process management
• Proven experience to develop test plans, test strategies, Framework Development and continuous integration.
• Proficient with QA concepts
• Proficient with Agile concepts
• Should be ready to explore, learn and develop solutions for problems
• Should be extremely flexible in terms of technology or platforms.
