Job Description

    *Basic FunctionThe Cloud Technical Architect Azure position serves on Emerson s Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) and is the subject matter expert for Microsoft Azure technologies. This Azure focused Technical Architect is responsible for the Azure standards at Emerson, sets positions on feature releases within Emerson s iterative approach to Azure globally and works directly with the CCoE s Enterprise Cloud Principal Architect by providing input on Emerson s overarching cloud domain roadmap. This individual is responsible for working directly with the Microsoft Account team to clearly understand Microsoft Azure s roadmap and establish the CCoE s position on new Azure features and functionality. The Cloud Technical Architect meets with Emerson product and development teams to define the most appropriate cloud services to satisfy their various requirements. In addition, this position serves as the enterprise lead escalation point concerning Azure related operations issues as this role should be considered a hands-on functional position. As this role demands a significant amount of technical writing, it also requires a candidate who can think independently and clearly articulate technical opinions. , *Requirements PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS Understanding of public cloud platforms with a specific focus on Microsoft AzureDesign cloud architectures that comply with Emerson security policiesExperience collaborating with Microsoft engineering teams on Azure feature release cyclesAbility to comprehend and create complex network drawings using standard design tools (i.e. Visio)Experience deploying and operating both cloud-based firewalls and load-balancersExperience with application deployment, troubleshooting and production supportWorking knowledge of Infrastructure management tools (Ansible or Terraform)Familiarity/Experience with container technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes etc.Passion for writing detailed technical documentation in the form of both HL and LL engineering guides EDUCATION/LANGUAGE Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technology/engineering discipline required. EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
      • Ten (10) or more years of IT engineering experience required
      • Five (5) or more years working in a network and security engineering discipline
      • Five (5) or more years working in a cloud engineering position required
      • Five (5) or more years with direct working experience on Microsoft Azure required
      • Experience with technical writing and defending technology decisions
      • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert required
      • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer preferred
      • Experience providing escalated operations support required
      • Good communication and collaboration skills
