Job Description

Instrument design to an agreed schedule and construction budget.3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES : Instrumentation Design (80%) : Instrumentation scope definition , estimation & forecasting , planning , review / check / approval , document control and review , scope control and other activities necessary for project execution.Safety and rigorous adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all instrumentation designs produced and equipment specified by AP and / or AP s Engineering Partners.Accountable for the safety and engineering scope adherence in accordance with project specifications & standards.Implementation of quality procedures and contribute to continuous implementation of improvement activities.Effectively communicate by email , power point or face to face AP s execution strategies , schedule issues and project requirements.Support and contribute to AP s low cost sourcing activities.Maintain BSP targets and LSO compliance.Controls Engineering (20%) : The Engineer will act as lead engineer on small to medium projects supported with a more experience engineer. Organising work to meet deadlines dictated by project schedules. Brief his / her supervisor at any time on the status of equipment on the projects.Liaise with other engineering disciplines to agree operational and interface details on all project packages and equipment. Taking the initiative in resolving interface problems.Liaise with vendors and resolve technical issues without exposing Air Products to claim for additional costs.Control the man-hours and equipment costs incurred on projects that are his / her responsibility , anticipate manpower requirements and highlighting scope and design variations in accordance with Air Products procedures.Travel globally for periods of time to conducts inspections , DCS configuration checkouts , supervise construction contracts or loop check commissioning of Measurement & Control systems. 4. ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK Controls & Instrument Engineering may be allocated specific tasks or AP Project would take responsibility for : Quality of AP s engineering partner deliverablesQuality of AP s low cost vendor equipment and / or productsREVIEW OF WORKIndividual discipline project execution strategies shall define the approval authority of individuals.5.KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED : An Engineering Degree (or equivalent) with minimum of three to five years experience in a relevant industry of which at least three years should have involved control and instrument design Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skillsExperience comparable with the grade in a relevant industry preferably will have involved LASU (Large Air Separation Unit) design.Start-up , commissioning or plant operating experience an advantageCryogenic Air Separation and Flammable gas plant experience preferredMust be familiar with an engineering organisation , the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups globally.Experience of SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation) software and associated modules , also CV and Orifice plate sizing utilising industry standard softwareExperience of Analysers and their associated tubing configuration and installations and also Process & Pneumatic tubingExperience of specifying instrumentation items. Knowledge and experience of plant layouts and model review meetings and softwareExperience and knowledge to effectively communicate issues and ideas effectively to GEM Passport , internationally mobile.6. MOST CHALLENGING PART OF JOB Communicating across multiple time zones with multiple cultures , whilst working on multiple projects , complex technical issues resolving and implementing in a timely manner to meet both project schedule and budget.Managing low cost vendors to produce quality products on time to schedule.
