The Database Administrator 3 is responsible for the availability, implementation, maintenance and repair of an organizations databases. This includes monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. The Database Administrator 3. Responsibilities: Working experience administering databasesFamiliar with basic operating system commands in order to carry out database functionsRun scripts against the database and at the operating systemBuild shell scripts to place commands to be run in batch mode. Escalate issues to appropriate staff; including DBA, infrastructure support, client and communicate statusUse native database performance tools such as Oracle Statspack, AWR, ADDM, ASH to attempt to isolate the problemFocuses on enhancing database performance through proactive monitoring, reporting and tuning and provides technical assistance and mentoring to staffProficient in troubleshooting database hardware, software and/ or communications problems. Install Oracle softwareResearch, test and perform database patching and upgradesMaintain existing monitor and alert systemPerform trend analysis from metadata collected from databases so informed decisions can be made for resource managementWrite database documentation to be used as Standard Operating ProceduresOn call for 24X7 database support for one week at a time in an on call rotation with the DBA staffAnalyze data and interpret information to develop strategyPossesses clear and understandable verbal and written communication skillsAbility to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and professionalism with strong attention to detail.
