Job Description

    Job PurposeThe engineer will be required to utilize a variety of engineering tools such as process models, historical operating data, statistical analysis tools, and work at hydrogen production facilities to identify longer-term productivity improvement projects as well as to identify daily suggestions to optimize design & operationKey Functional Roles & ResponsibilitiesInnovate mechanical component design for water Electrolyzer systems towards improved performance and reduced costCollaborate with stack engineers for stack design, manufacturing, and preliminary testing Perform multi-physics modeling to simulate mass and heat transfer and fluid mechanicsAnalyze Electrolyzer failure pertaining to mechanical component degradation Scale up Electrolyzer manufacturing from pilot scale to full scale using industry processesInterface Electrolyzer system engineers towards improved electrical efficiencyInteract with manufacturing and supply chain departments towards cost reductionCollaborate with test stand engineers for test stand design and buildingRepresent the corporation to interact with vendors, customers, and other stakeholdersProvide process & equipment engineering and operation support for multiple green hydrogen generationProvide engineering assistance for plant commissioning, turnarounds, and maintenanceIdentify and implement productivity improvement opportunity projects with central engineering and commissioning teamsConduct preliminary benefits analysis evaluation for various cost reduction and other productivity improvement projectsProvide remote or on-site support to operational facilities in distressSupport all active sites and new project development within assigned region as requiredCarry out original investigative short-term applied industrial research studies to resolve urgent, complex and unique technical problems related to sustainability in the energy industry for which relevant published literature is lackingConduct research and maintain awareness of novel developments in the area of hydrogen economyInitiate innovative projects related to hydrogen production materials and processes; develop laboratory equipment and facility;carry out testing, synthesis, and data analysisEngage in economic analyses for scaling up hydrogen R&D concepts and projects to demonstrate commercial feasibility of the newly developed technologiesGain strong understanding of the state of the art in electrocatalysisGenerate and protect intellectual property by patent filingSkills-Understanding of the Hydrogen value chain and mainly on electrolyzes and electrolysisKnowledge of Hydrogen production processes & ammonia production from renewable energy sourcesBroad experience in oilfield production processes, gas processing, refinery and petrochemical processesExperience working directly with green hydrogen projects and understanding of the Hydrogen value chain, electrolyzes and electrolysisStrong knowledge and command of process engineering principles and practices, material specifications for piping and equipment in hydrogen service, best design practices and industry codes and standards for hydrogen systemsKnowledge of hydrogen process safety considerations and impacts on hydrogen pipeline system and equipment designsExperience in working in multidisciplinary project teams and dealing with external stakeholders (e.g., technology providers, clients, etc.)Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
