Character-for-character/ word-for-word proofreading against manuscript on 1st pass pages, including proofreading of illustrations, captions, credit lines, text references, running heads, folios, line/ word spacing, and line/ page breaks. Checking for accents or special characters defaulting to an incorrect/ unintended character. Proofreading to include verification of conformance to design specifications. Checking to ensure that the outstanding/ pending CE queries are addressed; flagging to PM in case of any omission. Editing to ensure that (i) the pages are formatted according to design specifications, (ii) the content has been styled correctly, (iii) the correct photos and illustrations have been placed. Checking to ensure inclusion of all cross-references. Checking for spelling and grammar errors. Making recommendations to the compositor on page layout decisions such as (i) the movement of text to ensure placement of figures on the same spread near callouts, (ii) aesthetically pleasing photo and illustration sizing, and (iii) appropriate stacking of marginal elements etc. Qualification:A bachelor s or a master s degree in science/ humanitiesExperience of 3-4 years,
