Job Description

Alstom has established a strong presence in India. Currently, the company is executing metro projects in several Indian cities including Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow where it is supplying Rolling Stock manufactured out its state of the art facility at SriCity in Andhra Pradesh. In the Mainline space, Alstom is executing Signaling & Power Supply Systems for the 343 Km. section on World Bank funded Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Phase 1 in the construction of the new electric locomotive factory for manufacturing and supply of 800 units of 12000HP locomotives is also complete at Madhepura, Bihar while the depot at Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh is ready to commence operation. Alstom has set up an Engineering Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and this coupled with a strong manufacturing base as well as localized supply chains, is uniquely positioned to serve customers across the globe. Today, Alstom in India employs close to 3600 people and in line with Government of India s Make in India policy initiative, Alstom has been investing heavily in the country in producing world class rolling stock, components, design, research and development to not only serve the domestic market, but also rest of the world. www.alstom.com/ India Purpose of the job: Ensuring Fire safety at all Alstom Premises and work site areas and to be compliant with the requirements of fire safety as per contract and as per local laws . Organization Structure The Chief Safety manager of Pune Project EHS organization will be the hiererchial manager and positions and supervises Fire safety officer along with other EHS officers . Mission & Responsibilities Objectives - Fire safety at all Alstom Premises and work site areas and to be compliant with the requirements of fire safety as per contract and as per local laws . - Define and drive fire safety Plan- Project team members are trained in fire prevention and control including fire fighting and evacuation.- Additionally drive the activities towards implementation of Project Occupational health and safety plan and contractual Occupational Health and Safety safety requirements and Alstom Occupational Health and Safety safety rules and procedures Responsibilities - developing fire safety plans for building / construction site.-perform regular fire safety inspections at facilities and site locations and warehouse-providing training to employees, facility staff including sub-contractor employees on fire safety and preventative measures and basic fire fighting techniques through classroom sessions as well as organizing fire drills, emergency evacuation drills- ensuring that all fire and life safety systems installed in the work premises are effective, efficient and ready to use.- checking adequacy of fire fighting system - ensuring critical analysis of the situation in terms of fire safety to provide input to senior Management for decision making Qualification & Skills The Qulification requirements for this position are as follows as per the Conditions of Contract of Pune Metro Infra Project :- The candidate should have one of the following qualifications and work experiences (i ) Bachelors of Engineering ( Fire ) from National Fire Services College Pune with atleast 2 years of experience(ii) Bachelors ofEngineering (Fire & Safety) from Cochin University with atleast 2 years of experience(iii) Graduate with any Govt Recognized Diploma in Fire Safety with atleast 5 years of experience Skill Set Requirements for Fire Protection/ Prevention related safety :
1. Must have good communication skills both verbal and written
2. Capable to perform regular fire safety inspections at facilities and site locations and warehouse.
3. Capable of providing training to employees, facility staff including sub-contractor employees on fire safety and preventative measures and basic fire fighting techniques through classroom sessions as well as organizing fire drills, emergency evacuation drills
4. Should have good knowledge of relevant codes and regulations pertaining to fire safety norms.
5. Capable of developing fire safety plans for building / construction site.
6. Capable of ensuring that all fire and life safety systems installed in the work premises are effective, efficient and ready to use.
7. Capable of checking adequacy of fire fighting system
8. Capable of ensuring critical analysis of the situation in terms of fire safety to provide input to senior Management for decision making
Skill Set Requirements for Occupational Health & Safety 1.Capable of providing EHS Induction Training and other Safety topics related trainings for staff, service staff and sub-contractor and workmen.2. Capable of conducting Regular Site EHS Inspections and reporting the findings for corrective actions.3.
