Job Description

This exciting role offers opportunity to:
    • Provide clutch & transmission expertise and focus on regional pursuits, launch, aftermarket and current product engineering projects.
    • Determine, devise and execute methods for system level analysis & optimization for value proposition on clutches, manual transmission and relevant sub-systems. Knowledge on manufacturing aspects related to clutches and transmissions and related trends in powertrain and drivetrain elements.
    • Possess understanding of drivetrain application requirements and provide design solutions in tune with the same.
    • Perform benchmarking/reverse engineering activities during development of new designs.
    • Understand market & customer needs in clutch & transmission
    • Compare various architectures of drivetrain and understand/create value of same
    • Conduct design analysis while selecting/designing new components/systems
    • Determine necessary testing to be performed for approving new source/new design
    • Work in product optimization by trying out different materials and manufacturing processes
    • Conduct design reviews for various clutch concepts developed
    • Work closely with Product Strategy Manager, Sales/Service, participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to growth.
    • Attend internal quality / warranty review meetings and provide engineering support for warranty adjudication with customer.
    QualificationsRequirement:
    • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 8 - 12 years of experience in new product introduction / current product engineering
    • Design of casting, forging, and power transfer systems components such as shafts, gear & clutches
    • Selection of friction material suppliers and design optimization for end application
    • In depth understanding of clutch sub-system & component manufacturing processes
    • In depth understanding of design optimization & validation methods for various types of clutches
    • Transmission & Clutch product design architecture, layout, performance & durability
    • FRACAS/8D, Warranty & Reliability analysis
    • Understanding of APQP process
    • Good communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
    • Team player with highly effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
    • Passion, Accountability and Drive for results
    • Ability to operate with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work in a hands-on laboratory environment
