Job Descriptions - Lab TechnicianTo ensure that all the scheduled tests are completed on a day to day basis and reports are despatched appropriately.To oversee the activities of the technicians.To train and advice the Phlebotomist in the collection of blood from children and sychiatric patients.To supervise the activities of the staff in the 24-hrs lab and Haematology, Clinical Pathology coagulation and blood collection center also to sanction permission, leave, attend grievances, complaints etc.To perform the coagulation test in the absence of the Specialist Technologist (Coagulation Lab).To check the previous days work and follow up the night duty operations.To monitor the maintenance of glassware and overall cleanliness of the Lab.To carry out Internal Quality Assurance Scheme (IQAS) & External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS).To take care of correspondence with outside suppliers and vendors.To conduct frequent meetings with the Technicians, Phlebotomist, Attenders and typists.To provide technical assistance for setting up of new projects if any.To be in charge of all store items and raise indent whenever necessary, taking equal responsibility for the distribution of these items in the three sections Haematology, Clinical pathology, coagulation and blood collection center.To do the stores auditing frequently.To prepare the duty roster for the Phlebotomist, Technicians, Attenders and Typists.To be in charge of all the equipment both maintenance and servicing. Servicing is done once in a fortnight.To supervise the performance of the trainee Technicians and TechniciansTo ensure all the department employees are trained / oriented about the quality systems of the department.To make sure that the lab is clean.To come on night call or emergency call to do special work.To participate and contribute to the departmental quality initiativesTo be aware of departments performance and objectivesTo carry out data collection/support in data collectionTo adhere the safety norms of the hospital and follow both patient safety and staff safety rulesTo perform any task /job as and when assigned by the superior,
