Job Description

  • In this position the incumbent will be responsible to initiate and lead dynamic machine control programs based on electromechanical, electrohydraulic systems, advanced controls and development of intelligent machine functions; identify market opportunities, evaluate and develop new technologies, develop business cases, lead Integrated Project teams, lead customer relationships, present ideas and projects to business leaders and external customers. Profound technical leadership and business acumen is required to be successful in this position.
  • The incumbent will have responsibility to influence organizations technology strategy for dynamic machine control working in close collaboration with Data Science & Machine Learning experts.
  • Lead Engineer is expected to have expert level understanding of mechatronic systems and control system development. He/She is expected to be abrest with the industry trends i.e. advanced motion control system viz. adaptive control learning, diagnostics algorithms & identifies opportunities in response to the industry needs keeping in view organization s vision & mission. He/She will be responsible to drive integration of intelligence in control systems working closely with machine learning experts.
  • He/ She will also be responsible to reach out to external bodies to fill these gaps as needed. He/ She should have the capability to coordinate with global program teams by working collaboratively with broader Advanced Technology team as well as product engineering teams.
  • He/She will be responsible for making and initiating compelling technology proposals in the area of off-highway vehicles and stationary machine applications, inserting these into product roadmaps to create a distinct advantage for our products and system offerings over competition. He/She will be responsible for leading deliverables to ensure its accuracy and co-ordinate with integrated project teams
  • Provide technical leadership for the technology development and work closely with technologists for delivering intelligent controls systems
  • Collaborate with global experts, external partners and extended teams to drive and deliver on technology development
  • Lead the development of dynamic machine control projects, co-ordinate with globally diverse cross-functional project teams effectively and deliver technology solution
  • Provide hands-on solutions on critical projects; provide technical mentoring on complex projects involving multiple components or systems for completeness and compatibility with customer objectives and standards
  • Identify, evaluate and transfer leading technologies that pertain to existing, as well as, potentially new product lines.
  • Identifies unique opportunities to develop new solution offering for Eaton business.
  • Study emerging technologies like data science & machine learning and drive synergy with control systems. Integrate machine learnings to develop new control strategies to enable smarter and efficient machine operations viz. stability control, steer-by-wire systems, efficient power management.
  • Performs applcation studies to identify opportunities for improved and smarter controls for realizing advanced machine functionality
  • Work with the software and electronics team to develop and release open architecture control libraries
  • Identify and development of digital twins, act as coach and mentor to team members within the team for controls systems.
  • Develop controls architecture keeping in view safety requirements viz. SIL and ASIL.
  • Implement new or enhanced solutions designed to access and handle machine dynamics smoothly and balance power available Vs power consumed.
  • Participate in internal forums and represent in external forums & professional bodies
  • Lead and drive innovation events to drive game changing technology solutions for electrohydraulic, electromechanical and electrified systems
QualificationsRequirement:
  • Master s Degree Or Ph.D. in Mechanical / Electrical / Systems / Controls Engineering or equivalent technical field from accredited institutions
  • Masters with 9+ years / PHD with 4 to 5 years engineering/technology development experience in relevant domain for the mechatronic systems and control systems
  • Experience in developing controls architectures for electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated hands-on implemetation of controls in the systems and tuning for desired performance
  • Exposure to DFSS, AgileStarts and Design Thinking tools and methodologies
  • Working experience especially in the context of model-based and hardware-in-loop control algorithm and software development processes will be added advantage
  • Deep understanding of advanced controls methods in complex industrial systems with both dynamical and finite states Strong understanding and hands-on on physics based modeling and model based controls development in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Understanding of RTI, Stateflow, communication protocols viz. CAN, CANOpen, Profinet will be a plus
  • Demonstrated and working level experience of MIL and HIL simulation for verification and validation of controls Advanced controls strategies viz. adaptive controls, gain scheduled control, optimal control understanding will be a plus.
  • Integration of the systems viz. sensors, ECU, electromechanical and electrohydraulic components and implementation of controls on applications viz. off-highway vehicles and industrial stationary machinary Demonstrated understanding of functional safety. Certification from standard body will be an added advantage
  • Experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders in matrix organization and strong project management experience is required.
