Lead Teacher :Set the bar of classroom excellence! Lead people and projects! The first step towards School Leadership. Lead Teacher at iTeach Schools iTeach Schools is a fast-growing, Teach For India alumni led start-up, focused on providing a free, foundational and excellent education to secondary students. We currently operate six, Grade 8 to Grade 10 schools, in a collaborative initiative with the PMC and our funding partners. Our six schools serve about 1100 students and 330 student alumni. Read more about us at 100% of the students coming to iTeach Schools are from under-resourced and difficult backgrounds. The lack of access to good education and opportunities creates a huge achievement gap. The secondary grades are the last lap of intervention for these students, and most likely, the only chance we have left to level the playing field between them and their high-income peers. Education is one sure means for these students to break the circle of poverty. In the Academic Year 2019-20, we are looking at starting more schools, and are looking for an exceptional instructional leader to serve as Lead Teachers at our Responsibilities The Lead Teacher will set the absolute bar of excellence for instruction in the school. They must serve as the beacon of inspiration for all their colleagues, and the school network. In addition to their classroom excellence, Lead Teachers will take on projects (described below) to further develop their leadership and push the depth of the school s programs. Were looking for people who will be eager to design and create the most effective systems and processes, combining researched best practices with their own contextual Support the School Leader to push depth across all school programs Lead a project towards its goal, by choosing your areas of focus aligned with your expertise and passion, setting a contextual vision for the project, creating a project plan to execute these initiatives, investing Stakeholders, and executing to your best Some examples of focus areas could be coaching Associate Teachers, leading a content department, owning vital school functions (such as Community Impact of the school, Holistic Development of students, creation of excellent Data Systems, driving Project-Based Learning, developing opportunities for Internships for our students, etc). The choice of one or multiple of these projects will be based on the mutual interest of the School Leader and the Lead Teacher. Develop a monitoring and evaluation system to measure the effectiveness of your project, against the project milestones Become the content expert for the network of teachers in your area of focus, multiply your impact by sharing your learning across the network and Instructional Leadership (within your content department) Set the absolute bar of excellence in your classroom by teaching one subject to one grade (see Teacher Roles and Responsibilities for more details) Facilitate in setting ambitious goals for Students and Teachers Model effective instructions for teachers Observe classroom instruction and provide productive feedback to Teachers Oversee the collection and analysis of Student Data Ensure documentation and collection of effective plans / other resources Bachelor s degree with exceptional performance as a teacher for 3 years B.ed degree in the content area of choice (Preferred) Experience in managing a project in a professional setting (Preferred) Experience with training Teachers through classroom observations and Competencies A teacher with an entrepreneurial mindset eager to design and create systems and processes, rather than follow them Exceptionally strong Instructional knowledge and expertise Advanced proficiency in classroom planning and execution Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrates an incredibly strong work ethic, willingness to learn and,
