  • Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation. Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for nontechnical and technical users. Prior experience in creating and maintaining User Guides, Release Notes, HW/SW Requirements documents, Deployment/Configuration documents for Web-based software products.
  • May document engineering processes and specifications. Recommends formats responsive to technical and customer requirements. Produces products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
  • Create and update User Documentation and/or online help for the assigned project according to BU documentation requirements and standards.
  • Create clear and concise documentation for projects based on the client/BU requirements.
Position Requirements:
  • Learn and understand the product usage for appropriate preparation of user documents.
  • Customize content to meet user needs of understanding and using the product features.
  • Research and understand technical documents to establish basic technical understanding of the project.
  • Identify relevant information sources to clarify understanding of the project/ product within the team and client/BU.
  • Effectively collaborate with various product stakeholders and teams across geographies to gather the required product information before compiling documents that are end-user ready.
  • Must have prior experience in Enterprise solutions documentation.
  • Should have exposure of working with US team and will need to work with people in Mountain Time Zone (Call starts at 7:30 or 8:30 PM)
  • Researches, writes, edits and proofreads more complex technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications to provide clients with information regarding technical areas in a less technical way.
  • Performs usability testing with clients on documentation and utilizes feedback to improve documentation and standards.
  • Composes or updates material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures and installation, operation and maintenance software and hardware.
  • Selects appropriate media and distribution methods.
  • Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations to meet business needs.
  • Reads previous documentation and design notes and uses computer based training, or company technical products to gather and research technical information for use in more complex documentation. Interviews programmers, engineers, developers and other technical personnel.
  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards, e.g., order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  • May maintain records and files of work and revisions, may select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts to illustrate material, assist in laying out material for publication and arrange for typing, duplication and distribution of material.
  • Creates, compiles and delivers more complex system/software developmental documentation packages from technical project team inputs, system requirements analysis, system design specifications, technical system design, technical procedure development, configuration control requirements, test and training specifications and programming notes.
  • Assists in creating project plan, etc. for completing documentation.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.
Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of authoring tools such as RoboHelp, FrameMaker, MS Word. Ideal candidate should have expert level skills in RoboHelp and MS Word.
  • HTML, CSS, WebHelp
  • Good working knowledge of Screen capture and editing tools (SnagIT etc.).
  • Graphic Design tools (MS Paint, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro etc.)
  • Skill in evaluating documentation, production and quality control and publishing system operation
  • Skill in understanding and focusing on client needs, establishing credibility, and building relationships with clients
  • Skill in editing writing for punctuation, syntax, and grammar
Other skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, communication, presentation and reporting skills are required.
  • A strong working knowledge and understanding of BFSI and in particular Retirement Recordkeeping, 5500 forms and associated principles is a bonus.
  • Work as an individual contributor.
