The Application Engineering Manager shall be primarily responsible to profitably grow ANSYS business by providing effective and efficient sales support for entire West India region. Application Engineering Manager shall work closely with West region sales team to identify opportunities that will expand ANSYS footprint , plan and prioritize the necessary technical activities to achieve the West region growth plan.This role shall involve partnering with Key customers across industries in West region by listening to their needs and developing working knowledge of their goals , key business initiatives and technical challenges and hence identifying presales engagements that can enable customer success while deepening ANSYS partnership.The Application Engineering Manager is expected to spend a portion of his / her time mentoring and leading team members , while spending majority of his / her time performing pre- sales duties , technical business development and related customer- facing activities. This position shall be based out of Pune.RESPONSIBILITIESEngage with key customer stake holders to establish the ANSYS value proposition; explore and uncover opportunities to drive software growth; develop and implement best simulation practices to improve customer efficiencyManage pre- sales technical team to drive software sales in new accounts and expand in existing accountsPartner with the sales manager to review opportunities , forecast , build pipeline and prioritize AE resources accordingly; develop ideas and support execution of new business growth initiativesLead and participate in the development and mentoring of team members , including but not limited to providing the team with effective guidance to support key goals , recruit top talent , cross territory collaboration , and professional growthContribute to a departmental focus on continuous process improvement; suggest and / or lead process improvement initiatives , and lead the effective implementation of resulting changes within the teamMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelors in Mechanical , Electrical or Electronics engineering or other technical disciplineA minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering environment , including post- Bachelors academic experienceMinimum of 2 years manager- level or Senior Engineer level work experience in application engineer , customer support , customer consulting services , or related customer facing activities.Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development , technology and how these tools are used by our customersStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong leadership and mentoring skillsStrong interest in working with customers and salesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMasters or Ph.D. degree preferredA minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering environment is preferredExperience in hiring , and developing staff as well as dealing with underperforming employeesMust have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performanceMust have customer service aptitude and maintain customer focusAbility to travel up to 60%Experience with Automotive industry (particularly Electrification) is preferredCULTURE AND VALUESCulture and values are incredibly important to ANSYS.
