*This product risk focused position assists with or manages critical reliability activities within new product development in order to meet customer and business reliability expectations. People in this position carry out activities needed to prevent and detect failures and improve reliability. This position may also maintain tools and methods used to assess and improve product reliability.Applies and supports the improvement of processes such as quantitative reliability analysis and failure reporting and corrective action systems and tools required to support the processes and enable high quality decision making.Investigates product problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.Obtains input and negotiates with new product technical and core teams and delivers plans to meet critical reliability deliverables to new product development leadership.Makes decisions in the areas of product problem prevention, detection and correction that impact overall new product reliability. Owns problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems or services with a greater degree of technical complexity and ambiguity over the entry level engineer level and with greater accountability to the project team.Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes.Involves minimal direct management of people, but could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or temporary student employees.Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role., *SkillsProduct Failure Reporting and Corrective/Preventive Action Systems - Defines and leads a process to record, prioritize, and resolve product failures using cross-functional reviews, rigorous problem solving methods, failed parts transfer processes, data management tools, and project management practices to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of the product.Product Failure Mode Avoidance - Mitigates potential product failure modes, by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the system of interest to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of Cummins products.Product Problem Solving - Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Product Reliability and Reliability Risk Management - Plans and manages critical reliability activities during new product development by preventing failures before hardware, detecting failures before the customer does, and improving products before production in order to release a reliable and durable product; evaluates key technical and program measures to assess the launch readiness of a new product using prescribed indicators, measures, risk scales and methods of tracking to focus attention on metrics to reduce risk and improve reliability.Quantitative Reliability Analysis - Analyzes failure data from existing and/or new products by establishing failure rate models for use in assessing the feasibility of meeting reliability targets, comparing the reliability of product alternatives, estimating reliability and product coverage costs, identifying emerging issues, or verifying that improvements implemented have had the desired reliability improvement.Reliability Test Planning - Develops and analyzes a test plan acknowledging the relationship among reliability, sample size, distribution parameters and confidence; develops system level reliability test plan by considering schedule, number of units, applications, noises, and locations to find unknown failure modes to improve reliability; creates an accelerated test plan by increased use, overstress testing, or combining multiple stresses to build and extrapolate a model to estimate reliability under normal use conditions.Applies Principles of Reliability Engineering - Applies reliability and durability concepts including failure rate behavior, life distributions, targets, assignable versus root cause, mission disabling and warrantable, to make decisions that sustain or improve the product s availability and design life; uses principles of reliability in product design, development and support using appropriate failure rate, cost, and time-based indicators to understand if current and proposed designs are sufficient to meet reliability expectations.Decision quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.Drives results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.Collaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.Self-development - Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.Education, Licenses, CertificationsCollege, university, or equivalent Bachelors degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Post-graduate (Masters) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.ExperiencePrior entry level engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred

• Position will be part of CEFS Quality & Reliability function to support Cummins Electronics product line Globally.
• Collaborate Globally including India with TPLs on VPI project to meet the reliability requirements at various stages of product development.
• New Product Reliability Skill sets along with Knowledge of Electronics products design / development will be added advantage.
• Lead Reliability Functional Reviews. Support Technical Functional & DVP&R Reviews.
• VPI Project management for Reliability Tasks.
• Knowledge of statistical software packages (ReliaSoft, Minitab, Weibull++,) is preferable.
• Knowledge of warranty data analysis and life data analysis is preferable.
• Knowledge of New Product development tools and processes of Cummins.
