Works as part of a team that is accountable for the overall Command and Control of all Infrastructure Services managed infrastructure and applicationsEvent and Incident Management, supporting Command and Control in delivering to its overall responsibility of being Guardians of serviceWhat will you be doing Part of a team working a 24x7 shift patternReactive 70% / Proactive 30%Handle all alerts and incidents, undertaking classification, investigation and diagnosis.Support service recovery within applicable timescalesRemain fully conversant and fully aligned with the strategy and plans of GTIS Hosting Service Delivery, Middleware and Command CentreEngage with 3rd line technical support, internal support teams and / or suppliersSupport processes (currently aligned to ITIL best practice)Ensures that all requests from users for assistance are handled promptly and effectively.Identify and support delivery of improvements in Process and PerformanceWhat we re looking for:Analytical ability covering incident recovery, root cause identification and eradication and pro-active service and process improvement.All round Infrastructure knowledge for example UNIX (Linux, AIX, Solaris), Mainframe, Midrange and WindowsDemonstrable knowledge and experience of Middleware technologieso WebSphere Application Server / JBOSS / Apache Tomcat / iPlanet / WebLogico Bladelogic, CA APM / Wily Monitoringo ITAM (IBM Tivoli Access Manager)o LDAP Directory Serviceso WebSphere MQ and Message Broker, BMMo sFTP, Sterling Connect Direct, Sterling File GatewayDemonstrable knowledge and experience of monitoring, event management and alerting toolsets (e.g. Netcool, Nimbus, SCOM)Skills that will help you in the role:Good understanding of the internal and external environments that make up the Operations area. Knows what should be communicated, when, and to whom.Can identify the specific functions, responsibilities and key stakeholders of the Command & Control operation. Knowledge of, experience of working with ITIL processesHas identified customer needs, monitored and reported on the service level and taken action to solve service level issues.Understanding of the project lifecycle, with emphasis on validation and Live implementation phases.Ability to track adhere to Middleware product standards and acceptance criteria.Knowledge of software maintenance and patching, SSL encryption and certificate management, Cloud Technologies, Vulnerability Management and Scripting skillsAble to interpret and apply policies and standards.,
