Job Description and Qualifications

Purpose To deliver safe, fit for purpose piping design to an agreed schedule and agreed budget. Nature and Scope The job holder is one of the key members of the design team having responsibility for piping design. The job holder shall be responsible for leading the piping design on projects executed by API. In addition, generating plot plans and other bid deliverables in support of proposal work shall also be part of the responsibilities. If the execution strategy calls for design outsourcing, the jobholder shall be responsible for supervising and reviewing the design generated by the design house. DIMENSIONS

  • Responsible for working on multiple projects at a time.
  • Responsible for review of corresponding documents.
  • A Piping Engineer acts as the technical interface with AP project execution teams for piping design. The primary purpose is the delivery of a safe, fit for purpose piping design to an agreed schedule and construction budget.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Safety and rigorous adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all piping designs
Implementation of quality procedures
  • Safety and rigorous adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all piping designs.
  • Accountable for the layout design and engineering scope adherence in accordance with project specifications & standards of all piping designs
  • Implementation of quality procedures
  • and contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Piping scope definition, planning, review / check / approval, document control and review, scope control, estimating & forecasting and other activities necessary for project execution.
  • Ensure that the design and drawings released for a project meet the design requirements and also ensure optimization in design and cost effective design.
  • In project definition phase of project support the estimation team for minimal cost solutions in layout.
  • Work effectively with construction team to ensure that design queries are effectively addressed and provide field support as required.
  • Effectively communicate by email, .ppt or face to face AP s execution strategies, schedule issues and project requirements.
  • Support and contribute to AP s low cost sourcing activities.
  • Develop and establish systems for improvement within the piping design team.
  • Maintain BSP targets and LSO compliance
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • An Engineering Degree (or equivalent) with a work experience of around 10 - 12 years.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills
  • Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups globally.
  • Experience of SP3D Piping software and associated modules.
  • Experience of planning of piping design work, inputs required and working on end to end piping design cycle and generation of piping design packages.
  • Understanding of pipe support design and Piping stress work process
  • Hands on experience of working on plant layouts, modelling and leading model review meetings.
  • Should be familiar with design of piping skids.
  • Experience of field engineering is desirable.
