The team is always looking for passionate, dedicated individuals who are self-motivated in their work and careers.What you will be doing:The Appliance Solutions team is seeking a hands-on Principal Hardware Engineer who is passionate about contributing in our next generation backup appliances architecture. Responsibilities will include trouble shooting and solving complex customer issues working closely with Hardware engineering teams, Product management and other Appliance Scrum teams to . You will work with our support engineering group to help resolve the customer issues.Your background in storage systems, capability to understand firmware, Kernel and applications software will drive Proof of Concept (POC) for Veritas NextGen backup appliances; you will help shape the future of backup storage. You will get opportunities to lead investigations of potential technological investment targets. You will contribute heavily in Veritas Next Generation Backup Appliance Architecture related to Storage and Compute solutions You will work with System and Automation Test teams to drive HW diagnostics test development, Performance Testing and Optimization. You will work with OEM partners to tune HW to best suit our workloads Work in various layers of the software stack Participate in peer reviews Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment Communicate and collaborate among cross-functional teams in a multinational environment Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives and demosWhat skills, experience and education you need as a team member to succeed:Previous experience with x86 Server-Systems/Data-Center-Products Solutions Development, Performance and Reliability testing is highly desired Experience working with Storage Configuration, Optimization, Management and Monitoring is highly desired. Experience developing Storage Cluster, Cluster Configuration and Deployment, East-West Networking Solutions is highly desired Experience with Perl or scripting languages a plus Good debug/problem-solving and organizational skills A fast learner and self-starter with intellectual horsepower Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Excellent working in a collaborative team environment Ability to work without supervision Degree in EE/Computer Science or equivalentHighly Desired:Experience with Agile development methodologies including unit testing, test-driven development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing is a plus Knowledge of cloud infrastructure design a plus Experience with continuous software delivery model is a plusAt Veritas, we care about the causes close to your heart and enable you to volunteer, donate, and do good.
