Job Description

The R&D Manager develops new product growth opportunities and controls the implementation of all aspects of the plan. This position will provide technical advice and support customers and field staff during and after the sale of products. This position identifies and implements technical solutions against business goals.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify product growth and new product opportunities which includes project planning, budget assessment and other related activities (these will be in direct collaboration with customers); directing research focus and creating the necessary methodology, thus driving organization technology growth
  • Provide support for product scale-up and plant manufacturing
  • Maintain awareness of current literature and analytical advancements and work with limited supervision on daily tasks
  • Provide technical service (internal and external) to address customer needs and translate these into new product development opportunities
  • Uses market data to take advantage of opportunities
  • Independently handle complex business and technical issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff
, *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years experience in Oil and fat based chemicals and derivatives
  • Deep fundamental understanding of Oleochemical chemistry including key chemical conversion processes such as hydrogenation, esterification, inter-esterification, trans-esterification, distillation, oxidation / reduction of fats and oils, and vegetable oil refining
  • Laboratory synthesis experience
  • Experimental design and analyzing data
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction and engagement
  • Successful experience with customer interaction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters degree or Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Deep experience in Oleochemical product development/ manufacturing
  • Knowledge of technical applications in waxes, emulsifiers and fatty acid
  • Solid knowledge of commercial scale-up and high volume manufacturing processing at the plant level
  • Proven experience of developing strong R&D team
  • Experience putting together top-notch technical presentations
  • Experience with the Stage gate process
