Position Purpose & Summary: Cargill has invested in Kurkumbh (Pune, Maharashtra) and Kandla (Gujarat). GEOS has edible oil refineries, whereas, CBI manufactures FR3 (natural ester) and is also investing, project AVI, in hydrogenation of Oils and Fats for feed & industrial applications. Given that Cargill is in the business of Agri & Food which is politically very sensitive, are invested and planning future expansion in the two states especially Maharashtra which is also very critical from GEOS perspective we need to be proactively managing the expectations of different stakeholders locally. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the relationships with the necessary local and state government representatives, regulatory bodies to facilitate Cargill s operations in Kurkumbh and Kandla. In addition, s/he will be leveraging Cargill s contributions in Corporate Responsibility space. S/he along with the Manager Corporate Communication be responsible for the internal and external communications at the local level. Principal Accountabilities:Regional Lead Corporate Affairs will support the Cargill s interest in Kurkumbh and Kandla by: (1) helping to create a dialogue with state and local authorities; (2) effectively managing external and communication requirements at plant level; and (3) overseeing citizenship efforts for Cargill and linking Corporate Responsibility activities to business needs. This position will focus on implementing plans supporting the Corporate Affairs mission locally. Therefore this position is the dedicated as the Go-To person for Corporate Affairs in Kurkumbh (Maharashtra) and Kandla (Gujarat). This position will report directly to the Plant Heads and to the Director of Corporate Affairs, Indian subcontinent. Government Relations (70%) 1. The primary responsibility is to develop and maintain proactive relationships with local administration and the state government to support the local businesses. 2. Responsible for the identification, development, planning, management and strengthening of key government relationships that are critical to Cargill s freedom to operate and to the growth of the company s businesses in Kurkumbh and Kandla; Advocate and/or provide assistance to the effective advocacy of the Company s positions and other business impacting issues before selected state and local government entities and officials; Plan, organize and coordinate meetings, visits and other forms of exchanges between company executives and Indian officials in government agencies at the state and local levels; Define and constantly refine the government engagement strategy at the local level; Orchestrate coalition efforts with the government via stakeholders such as vendors, customers, local communities, and Cargill to drive toward favorable outcomes and interpretations. 3. Assist business units outreach efforts on licensing, regulatory and policy issues with government officials at state and local levels of government. Develop strong relationships with government officials who may have an influence on these policies. 4. Be the primary local contact for external stakeholders. Corporate Responsibility (15%) 1. Corporate responsibility and sustainable development remain an inextricable part of everything we do in the country and it plays an important role in our revitalized purpose of Cargill will be the leader in nourishing the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way. 2. Cargill in Kurkumbh has launched a multi-year, multi million rupees program addressing health and nutritional deficiencies by promoting activity-based learning and improving lifestyle habits of 5000 adolescent school going children in Maharashtra 3. Work closely with the local CSR partner/s to ensure that the program is delivering on its desired objectives and leverage it with relevant stakeholders in government, communities to build relationships. Communications (10%) 1. Work closely with corporate and business communication to position appropriately Cargill s presence in local media. Others (5%) 1. Work closely with plant leadership team across the locations and support in negotiations with workers union, implementing the strategy in people processes and engaging the stakeholders in discussion to ensure no involvement of external authorities in company s administrative matters,
