Job Description

  • As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Qualys, you will be an integral member of our Network Service Engineering team whose responsibility includes prototyping, designing, developing and supporting a highly scalable service mesh based on zero-trust networking.
Responsibilities
  • Be an excellent team member supporting the vision of achieving a truly scalable and maintainable service mesh with zero-trust networking
  • Ensure the architecture supports the seamless migration from the traditional networking landscape to zero-trust service-mesh based networking
  • Ensure the Consul clusters are regularly maintained and released to production without any downtime
  • Ensure the Secret Management based on Vault is regularly maintained and released to production without any downtime
  • Increase the effectiveness, reliability and performance of Consul/Vault clusters by identifying and measuring key indicators, making changes to the production systems in an automated way and evaluating the results
  • Ensure that the Consul/Vault clusters are maintained properly by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, performance and system health.
  • Assist development teams to migrate applications to Service Registration/Service Discovery.
  • Design and implement required failover mechanisms within the Consul/Vault clusters
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Consul/Vault clusters
  • Develop and maintain automated processes, tools, and documentation in support of Consul/Vault usages in production environment
  • Ensure uptime SLA for our SaaS infrastructure, services and applications as part of the global DevOps team
  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly uptime and status reports for production and critical internal infrastructure
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in the field of data centre infrastructure management (UNIX/Docker/ Kubernetes/ Microservices)
  • Must have proven prior experience in managing large clustered applications and scaling it significantly at enterprise scale
  • Must have knowledge of Linux kernel options such as control groups and defining application groups to restrict resources
  • Good Linux system administrator skills and TCP/IP network fundamentals
  • Strong programming background in Java, Groovy, Python or Golang
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Applied Math or related field
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Built and managed a service mesh based networking from the ground up
  • Experience with managing Consul/Vault clusters
  • Expertise in building automation tools in any of the programming language such as Java, Groovy, Python or Golang
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Graphite, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
  • In-depth experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
  • Exposure to Maven, Ant or Gradle for builds
