Job Description

  • Position for a Senior Engineer - Embedded Software Development, with 6+ years of experience in firmware development with embedded products.
Responsibilities
  • Be a direct participant in the firmware development process including writing code, testing, code reviewing, and code debugging for new requirements, enhancements and issues reported from customer or product testing
  • Review requirements to ensure they are complete and accurate in order to create detailed design documents, work breakdown structures, and accurate effort estimates to complete projects. Active participation in peer review process for high level designs, detailed level designs and code reviews
  • Maintain development schedules by identifying and managing risks, as well as balancing software enhancements and quality
  • Mentor less experienced firmware team members in software development best practices
  • Work independently on assignments / projects
  • Utilize best software development practices to implement new processes. Recommend software process improvements to team lead
  • Work well in a structured but agile environment conforming to CMMi standards
  • Self-motivated to lead technical task and assumes higher levels of responsibility. Lead interactions with Business Unit, customers and other departments towards project execution
, Experience and Education:
  • Bachelors or Masters in Electronics Engineering (similar or higher). C-DAC or equivalent course in Embedded Systems and Programming will be preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in design and development of complex embedded products based on 16 / 32-bit microcontrollers
  • 4+ years of experience in programming with multi-tasking / multi-threading environment using any RTOS
  • 4+ years of experience in firmware development for communication protocols like Modbus, HART, SPI etc.
Technical skills:
  • Proficient in C language. Knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming concepts will be given preference
  • Very good knowledge of designing systems with RTOS such as Linux is a must. Experience with Linux Application Programming will be preferred
  • Proficient working with embedded software and analysis equipment (i.e. oscilloscope, communications analyzer, volt meter, debuggers)
  • Proficient with configuration management and version control processes. Knowledge of Subversion is preferred
  • Good knowledge of static code analysis tools like PC-Lint, Coverity, Fortify etc.
  • Knowledge about OSI layers and networking concepts. Knowledge of OSI Application Layer protocols like HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Telnet, TLS/SSL, SSH etc. and OSI Transport Layer protocols like TCP, UDP will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Linux Kernel, U-Boot, File Systems and GNU Makefiles
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing is preferred
Other required skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience in working with internal and external partners
  • Should be willing to work at various time zones of customers
