Job Description

Role and Responsibility: The Senior Functional Safety Engineer will be responsible for the ISO 26262 safety plan implementation for the Tensilica processors SW tools and libraries targeted for automotive products, comprising of development of ISO 26262 compliant processes, infrastructure and work products.He/she will work with the safety organizations of our customers, vendors, external safety expert consultants and internal product development teams to ensure that the functional safety process is well understood, executed and documented. He/she will become intimately familiar with Tensilica s configurable SW development, build, test infrastructure and flow and devise methods to ensure that they are compliant with the ISO 26262 standard by means of creating safety documentation/templates/examples, process improvements, engineer training, and auditing.This role will be an integral part of an agile engineering team that focuses on bringing safety solutions per the ISO26262 and IEC61508 standards to Cadence customers in the fast growing Automotive/ADAS markets.This individual will support the organizations mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, motivation, collaboration, flexibility, innovation, respect, accountability, and ownership. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Act as Senior Functional Safety Engineer for Cadence/Tensilica Safety related SW products
    • Create and/or support safety work products which include the Safety Plan, Safety Manual, Safety Requirements, and Safety Analysis on Tensilica/Cadence processor SW.
    • Collaborate with project engineers, marketing & development team, safety certifiers and customers on Functional Safety activities
    • Create/review functional safety documentation according to ISO 26262
    • Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles
    Requirements:
    • BSEE/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). MS preferred.
    • 7 or more years of total relevant work experience.
    • Experience or familiarity with Processor/DSP Software Product Development tools and methods
    • Experience in functional safety compliance, testing or auditing or QA (quality assurance) of SW components
    • Experience with ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508 standards
    • Experience working with perl and other scripting languages.
    • Good C programming skills. Experience with C is a plus.
    • Familiarity with GNU open source software development tools
    • Familiarity with both Linux and Windows
    • Familiarity with ISO or other industry-accepted quality standards.
    • Familiarity with Configuration, Requirements, and Documentation Management tools (e.g. Perforce, Jama, JIRA, etc)
    • Willingness and motivation to learn and apply standard compliance requirements of emerging markets
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear, concise documentation writing skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers and partners.
    Good To Have:
    • Experience with developing SW according to Safety Standards (IEC 61508 or ISO 26262)
    • Experience in Software Quality and process (e.g., SPICE, CMMI ).
    • Preferable if holds Safety certification.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management standard
