Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Principle Process Engineer to be located at our Engineering office in Pune, India. The successful candidate will work as part of the Process Gases Product Line Engineering Group in the Process Gases Product Line (PGPL) which is responsible for the design of Process Gas Plants and related equipment for the production of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ammonia, helium, and syngas blends. The technologies supported are split in to both high temperature processes and cryogenic processes. This successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the design of high temperature processes primarily for Syngas, H2 and CO production, but may also support low temperature applications like liquid H2, CO Cold Box, Nitrogen Rejection Units (NRUs) and helium production projects. Typical process cycles include steam methane reformers, amine systems (CO2 removal), and other gasification processes. Cryogenic distillations like Methane Wash, Partial Condensation, He Purification etc. The successful candidate will be responsible projects bids, front end project definition prior to handover to the engineering execution team, and product development. The successful candidate to work closely with the Process Engineering execution teams in Allentown - USA, Shanghai - China, and Hersham - United Kingdom. Responsibilities: Process cycle synthesis and selection Process Flow Diagram (PFD) development Aspen Plus simulations for the generation of heat & material balances Detailed equipment specifications for front end purification systems, catalytic reactors systems, heat exchangers, and steam systems. Duty specification of machinery Duty specifications of controls valves and relief valves Support of P&ID development and Hazard Reviews Performance test and troubleshooting efforts at plant facilities Domestic and international travel to customer locations and to plant sites is expected about 15 percent of the time Qualifications / Education: To be successful as part of the Process Gases Product line team, candidates must: Be self - motivating and have good interpersonal and communication skills Support a variety of projects within budgeted hours and to schedule Have a strong understanding of thermodynamics and be able to adapt knowledge to new applications Develop a working relationship with other groups within the Central Engineering Teams (Controls, Systems, Machinery, etc.) Have good commercial and fiscal awareness and actively seek lowest cost alternatives B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering 10 - 15 years Prior experience in Process, Operations, Process Systems, or Controls is preferred
