Job Description

About the job:Onshape (www.onshape.com), a PTC SaaS business, is developing a completely new Computer Aided Design (CAD) and design data management platform, delivered globally as SaaS, for professional mechanical designers and engineers. Think SolidWorks meets GitHub meets Google Docs. Our office is in the beautiful 121 Seaport Blvd. building in the heart of Boston s Seaport District. We have a fantastic team of ~100 people working on the Onshape service. You will be working on a one-of-a-kind 3D collaborative CAD application with cutting edge cloud, web, and mobile technologies.Join an exciting and growing company with responsibilities for building and scaling our global CAD and data management service. Use your Java development skills to design and implement new functionality, ensure reliable performance and maintain security for the next generation of 3D designed products.Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and deliver maintainable, performant Java code for the Onshape SaaS platform.
  • Be comfortable working with large code base and able to troubleshoot problems in a cloud native deployment.
  • Work closely with team members to review each other s designs and implementations.
  • Actively seeks out problems to be solved and be willing to look for new ways of solving hard problems.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of software development experience building large scale distributed systems in Java.
  • Hands-on technical lead with exposure and experience in a wide variety of Java technologies with specific expertise with the Spring suite of projects.
  • Deep understanding of distributed messaging systems, modern search engines and various SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Strong foundation in computer science, data structures, algorithms.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and guiding developers and being a technical lead.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and operations to ensure the scalability and maintainability of cloud native applications in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP)
  • Production level MongoDB experience is a plus.
  • Experience with enterprise search engine such as SOLR or ElasticSearch is a plus
