Job Description

The Isilon Engineering team of Dell EMC is seeking a smart and versatile Software Engineer 2 to join our Cluster Services and Control Path Team. One of the team s major responsibilities is the infrastructure for a REST-based Platform API and the corresponding customer facing SDK. It also owns some common infrastructure services. The team s charter continues to grow.The Platform API (PAPI) provides the glue that connects our hyper-scale NAS clusters to the clients that configure and analyze those clusters. PAPI s products include a ReSTful API and the underlying distributed/federated service. PAPI also supports our customer-facing SDK. Infrastructure services provide essential functionality that is required by all components of OneFS.We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented individual who is a team player and is ready to become a key contributor to make a difference. We are always looking for opportunities to grow the responsibilities of our team members. As a Software Engineer 2, you will be challenged in various ways while executing your assigned tasks such as coding, reviewing code, designing and writing design docs, writing unit tests, and so on.   • 2-6 years of software development experience
  • Strong C/C++/Python programming skills
  • Strong system programming skills including multi-threading, synchronization, and network programming
  • Strong software design and implementation, test, debugging, and problem solving skills
  • Significant understanding of Linux/Unix system internals
  • Reasonable knowledge about REST and HTTP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Versatile, proactive, team player
  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or the equivalent work experience
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, maintain high quality system and application software in the domain of RESTful APIs, SDK, infrastructure services.
  • Write high quality well documented code and participate in critical code reviews
  • Write and review design docs for new features or feature enhancements
  • Write test cases and automation as an essential part of software development
  • Actively contribute to and enhance the culture of innovation and learning within the team
